The next hour is still quite blur in my mind. I remember fighting, climbing, running. A lot of running. Screaming, too. Although that was probably just me. We ran for what seem eternity, until we reached woods. Before, we could only see a dry plain of grass. In this crowd of trees, we finally paused. He let me breathe a bit, as it felt like I hadn't ever since we left. Then, he explained me more in details his plan than he had done earlier.
The next day, my job was basically to manage to go back in Our Nation and free a robot Uncle Jeff had created in The Tower. That robot would, with the use of complicated programs, put on speaker the discussions that could be heard in The Tower all day, followed the evening by a recorded speech of Uncle Jeff, calling the Citizens to revolt. Although that plan seemed brilliant to me – at that time -, one detail really troubled me.
"If my job is to go back to Our Nation, then why did I had to risk my life by climbing that fence? And why, why in the name of Him, wasn't it electrified?"
My uncle took a deep breathe, which made me worry about his answer.
"You did risk your life, but let me assure you that if we had stayed in Our Nation, you – we - would have simply died. Asking you to destroy your cameras was already very dangerous. We should have run away before. As for the fence... the wires being electrified is only one of Their myths to terrorise us."
Then, he handed me what looked like a map of Our Nation. Hundreds of crosses were marked on it.
"Here are all the cameras installed in the streets. Don't ask how I got this map. See the red line? That's where you should walk. They are probably looking for you, so you can't risk to pass under one of their multiple eyes. Now sleep. Tomorrow's going to be a big day."
