The next hour, I had left my life behind, starting a new one. A new one, based on rebellion. It wasn't very difficult to quit my – or should I say, the – house, as nearly all the objects and furniture weren't mine. The backpack I took contained a few clothes only, and some food. Concerning my family, I never really had one, as both my father and my mother were captured by the Army for stealing – even if they didn't have much proof.
I remember walking more than my legs were capable of. Despite the early 30 minutes jogging imposed by Them, I didn't have much strength in me. What's this mandatory jogging? Just another rule of the government. Every morning, quite early, a loud bell rang, ordering us to dress up in a sport outfit, before another one, a few minutes later, indicating the beginning of the daily run. Every single Citizen of Our Nation had to be there, or else, they would be sent to The Tower, where they would be assigned some unbearable labor. The few captives were never seen ever since.
I didn't realize we would quit Our Nation before I saw the barbed wires. That was it. The border of Our Nation. The place we were all detained in. The place no one ever dared to try leaving. However, here were we! Determined to leave. However, I soon realized that it would be quite hard. I knew the fence was electrified; everyone knew it. Yet, Uncle Jeff climbed the barrier, and two seconds later, he was out of Our Nation.
A shiver took over my body. The border wasn't really electrified? Was it really that easy? I only needed to climb the fence? If it was true, then why had no one attempted to evade. The answer to my question was behind me. A soldier of Our Nation. Catching me. Hitting me .
