"We'll catch up with you guys, later" Bryan said gawkily. Steven nodded but he stayed with me. Lilly and Bryan walked off and Steven turned his attention to me. "As for you young lady" he articulated. "-What's up with you, I mean you haven't said anything to your friends all day and now this alibi you expect us to believe? Jazz, whatever's going on, you can tell me" I wish I could. I shook my head. "I can't tell you, at least not this time. I'm sorry" I verbalized. This hurt me, not being able to tell anyone the distress Jacob was causing me. I didn't know what to do. I needed my mom. Why'd she have to die. I thought back on what she always would say to me whenever dad told me 'no' to going on a date. All things happen for a good reason. Well mom, was you dying a good thing? Was I going to realize what happened to you was a good thing? If so, why does it seem like torment on top of torment? Steven looked shocked. "Jazz. I thought- I thought we could tell each other anything" "I can't tell you this. I'm sorry. I'm sorry" Adrian and Ryan walked over to us. "Steven" I spoke softly. He held his hand up to stop me. "Why can't you tell me. I'll support you no matter what it is. Don't you understand that?" He yelled. I could feel my temper rising with each passing second. "I do understand that I really do, I just can't tell you everything that happens in my life ok!" "Well, if something is hurting you you should let me know" Not 'something' it's a 'someone'. "Can't you understand. I can't tell you. Not everything in my life involves you!" I yelled. I admit it was pretty acrid, but I needed to get the memo in his head. Why he wasn't listening beats me. "You know, I don't know why I ever loved you, Jazz" I literally felt my heart break. The tornado was about to hit the warm springy day. A newborn being separated from its biological family. "I-I don't know why I loved you either. I thought you were different, but I see you're just like all my other ex's: a piece of shit" I hopped in the car making sure to slam the door after I was safely secured in the car. "Restraining Order?" Ryan asked. I nodded. "I'd love one on him" I kept my hand over my eye the whole ride. It wasn't until I got home that they found out what happened. I was engulfed with questions. I lied and told them I was hit with a basketball. "A basketball doesn't leave that bad of a mark, Jazz"
