Andromeda was dreading meeting with Molly out of lesson. As soon as she saw her sister that evening terror set in. The one thing she had strictly been instructed not to do she had gone and done anyway. The worst part was that after hearing about what Bellatrix had done to Molly's brothers and their Muggleborn friend, she was sure that Bellatrix would do something even worse to Molly if she found out they were meeting...let alone the fact that the girl claimed to be her friend. Bella had always been prone to overreaction. Andromeda remembered that one time Lucius Malfoy, Abraxas Malfoy's spoiled and less than kind son, had come over with his father for Luncheon. He'd snatched one of Narcissa's dolls from her and before a tear could roll from her eye Bellatrix had pounced on him. That was until she was reminded that her sisters were watching, and snapped out of it, leaving the boy quivering on the ground with a fresh bruise on his cheek. It was like she became another person when she was really, really angry. Another Bellatrix. Andromeda was sure that was why Molly's brothers had called her a monster. In every day life Bellatrix wasn't a monster, there was just one chained inside of her that would sometimes crawl out.

Every so often, when breaking from talking with the rest of the Slytherin second years, or the first years, Bellatrix would ask Andromeda what had happened. She had to fight every urge to not seem like she was hiding something. It got so bad one day at breakfast that she was sure that Astrius had taken notice, but he was nice enough not to question it. That evening however Andromeda hurried to her dormitory room and scribbled down a flurry of inquiry's on a piece of paper. She wanted Alphard's opinion. His often seemed to be a good one when she was very very unsure of something. He had also yet to be proved wrong in his opinions.

"...Are you doing homework?".

Emmeline teetered by the doorway like a matron. Her hair was wet and wrapped up in a towel, and her face was a miserable as ever. "No- writing a letter".

"Oh- I thought Slughorn might have told you about some sort of secret homework- seeing as you are his favourite".

Andromeda folded over her letter, dragging open a drawer to take out some wax. She then placed them into a spoon, watching it melt over an open candle flame. "No...". She could hear Emmeline rummaging around behind her as she poured the wax onto the letter. The girl went silent as Andromeda reached into the draw again, bringing out seal.

"...What are you doing?".

"...Sealing the letter". Emmeline came nearer, watching as the seal pressed into the wax. "Don't you seal your letters?".

"I use Sellotape".

"Sellotape?". Vance was taken aback by Blacks genuine interest. "What's that?".

Emmeline made her way over to the drawer by her bed, bringing out a roll of Sellotape. She then tugged at one piece, sticking it to her bedpost. It rolled down, hanging like an ornament. "More useful than your fancy wax".

"It does seem like some Muggle things are more useful than our magical stuff". Andromeda put her utensils away, leaving her letter on the side. Every other morning the Prefects would come around to the First and Second years to take any letters to the Owlery. She needed to be up bright and early to make sure the letter got to Alphard.

"...You don't mean that". Vance climbed onto her bed, leaving the sellotape where it was. She unwrapped her hair from the towel, squeezing it.

"I do-".

"No you don't. Don't pretend that you don't think magical things are better than everything else".

Andromeda didn't know what to say. "I-I'm not".
