You're Hired

The voice of the GPS spoke over your music telling you to turn right in 100 ft. Your finger flicked the little lever that engaged the blinker, a soft and rhythmic tic sounded in the car. You made sure the road was clear before turning right where the device had told you. The Pizza Plex came into view from roughly a mile away, the large building looming over everything around it. You couldn't tell exactly how big the place was, but you couldn't help but think a mall would look tiny in comparison.

You cut the GPS off, no longer needing the feminine robot voice to guide you. You had arrived roughly 20 minutes before your scheduled interview; looking around the crowded parking lot, you decided arriving early was one of your more clever ideas.

It took five or so minutes before you found a parking spot and that was only because someone was in the process of leaving just as you pulled up. You silently thanked your luck and pulled into the spot, pushing the gearshift into park. You snatched your purse from the driver's seat, doing a quick once over of your face in the rearview mirror, then exited the vehicle. With a quick press of a button, your car was locked, and you were on your way to the front entrance.

The cool AC whisked away the heat from outside as you entered the building. You did a quick glance around to try and figure out your surroundings, noting a few security guards roaming around the entrance area as you did so. Deciding it would be best to ask for directions instead of getting lost, you picked a guard that seemed friendly and beelined for them.

"Uhm, excuse me?" You waved slightly, trying to get the guards attention. The guard noticed and gave a polite smile.

"Yes ma'am, how may I help you?" she asked in a practiced customer service voice, one you knew from your own experience.

"My name is Y/N L/N. I'm here for an interview at three...?" the ending coming out as a question gave away the fact you were nervous, and a pink tint filled your cheeks. You were embarrassed about how unsure you sounded to the guard.

The guard nodded in understanding, and gave a sweet smile, "I see. I can guide you to the hiring manager if you would like."

You gave a small nod and the guard turned. You followed her, weaving your way through the crowd and trying not to lose sight of her. It was a difficult task with how brisk her pace was, but you managed. She guided you to a door labeled 'STAFF' and scanned a badge to unlock the door momentarily. She held it open and guided you inside.

She led you down a series of hallways, a relaxed silence that was only broken by the sound of your footsteps and the occasional beep of a scanner as the guard swiped her ID to open a door. You did your best to take note of the turns she took and signs on the wall for landmarks in case you ended up losing your way. This place was huge, and you definitely did not want to be stranded and lost in this maze of hallways.

"So," the guard broke the silence, "what position did you apply for?"

"Any of them, really," you replied sheepishly with a chuckle, "I don't mind where I have to work. I applied for a waitressing position initially, but I'll go wherever I'm needed."

The guard hummed quietly in consideration of your words, then came to a stop. The two of you were now in front of a door with the name Lucas B. Hart engraved on a nameplate. The security guard knocked twice on the door, eliciting a gentle, "Come in," from the other side. The guard opened the door, introducing herself as Autumn to the person inside before she explained why she was there. She opened the door further, revealing you to the man inside, presumably the hiring manager.

"Thank you," the man replied to Autumns explanation, "I can take it from here. Please return to your shift." Autumn gave a slight nod, then turned to leave. The man turned to you and waved you in politely.

"Come on in, I don't bite," he said, his voice pleasant with a teasing tone to it, "My name is Lucas. I'm the hiring manager here at the Pizza Plex."

"I'm Y/N L/N," you stated politely, offering a sweet, if nervous, smile as you made your way into the room.

It was a simple office with a couple bookshelves holding what appeared to be OSHA manuals, training books, and various other legally required binders. His desk was neat with only a few papers strewn about, presumably what he was working on before you arrived. Lucas gathered the papers up, tucking them neatly into a folder before filing it away as you glanced around the room.

"It's nice to meet you Y/N. Please, take a seat," he offered, gesturing towards a chair opposite his desk. You did as he said, using your hands to keep your skirt from rising as you sat. He sat at his desk, opening a laptop. "Let me just pull up your application and we can get started."

It took a few seconds for him to get the application up and glance through it. "It says here your only experience is in fast food. Is there a reason for this?"

"It's because I don't have a college education, sir," you responded, your voice cracking slightly, revealing once again just how nervous you were. "There aren't many places that would hire without one."

He hummed in response, glancing over your resume once more before turning to you. "There's only so much I can learn from a resume, Y/N. So, tell me, what qualities do you have that you believe would be an asset to our company."

You ponder the question for a second before responding, "I'm a fast learner, sir. At my previous job, I was able to understand concepts quickly and implement them efficiently into my work. It would be something as simple as cooking or as complicated as repairing machinery in the restaurant. I also am very patient. Even when customers are rude and want to do nothing but complain, I remain calm and do everything in my power to diffuse the situation. I try to resolve whatever their complaint may be and I do so in a professional, patient, and kind manner. I work well with others, no matter how unsociable they may be. Even if a coworker is rude, which does happen occasionally, I will treat them as sincerely as I would anyone else. I will work alongside them and do my share and then some if my coworker needs it. I believe those are my strongest characteristics."

Lucas nods, contemplating your words before he continues. "Now that I've heard your strengths, what would you say are your weaknesses?"

Biting your lip nervously, you think over the question for only a moment. "I think my main weakness is that I take on way too much responsibility. I often bite off more than I can chew when it comes to taking care of others and myself. It leaves little room for leisure in my life and often causes stress. However, I do handle that stress very well and have never backed out of a responsibility I have taken up."

Lucas seems pleased with this answer and gives a slight nod. He asks a few more questions, these just relating to availability and other basic information. Soon the questions come to an end, and he leans back in his chair, smiling.

"Well, those are all the questions I have for you, Y/N. You did very well. On behalf of Fazbear Entertainment, I would like to offer you a job."

You couldn't contain the excited grin that stretched across your lips. "Thank you, sir. I won't let you down, I promise!"

Lucas chuckled softly, "I'm sure you won't. When do you feel like you'd be able to begin?"

"As soon as possible," you answered, eager to begin working once more.

"Then you start tomorrow. Come in at 6 AM and enter through one of the many employee entrances around the building. You'll be stationed in the daycare as an assistant. We can't seem to keep assistants there for more than a week or so, something about the daycare animatronic being too stubborn to deal with. Your responsibilities are simple. You clean, keep the children entertained when the daycare animatronic has a hard time, send in orders for restocking, and send in maintenance requests when the animatronics' self-scan detects an error. I'll call someone in to get your security pass set up and the other necessary things you'll need. They'll also give you a tour of the Pizza Plex before you leave."

You gave an excited nod, indicating that you understand. Lucas used a radio to figure out who would be available to guide you. Someone named Seth answered, his voice crackling over the radio, "I'm free. See you in fifteen minutes," Lucas tells you to wait outside the door for Seth to arrive and you thank him before leaving the room to wait patiently for your guide.
