It had became night again when Fang found a log house within the wide range of trees Ruby’s energy signal could be found inside along with several others.

Fang slowly approached the window nearest to where Ruby was. It was a kitchen. Ruby sat on her knees as a tall man. Perhaps her father yelled so loud the glass couldn’t muffle out his harsh words.

Man:You weak, pathetic, crybaby brat why did you remove the collar you MISTAKE…

Upon saying a mistake he kicked Ruby in the side of the head the sound ricocheting all throughout the house. Ruby layed there unmoving as he kicked her in the side, tearing a scream from her.

Man:There it is Scream! Scream your little heart out SCREAM LIKE YOUR MOTHER DID WHILE THE GRIMM TORE HER TO SHREDS!

Fang was taken back by that remark. What did he mean? What is The Grimm? Did it have something to do with the beast that attacked him when he first arrived?

Ruby was coughing but somehow held back her tears.

Fang:(Thought)Why did she want to return to this?

Man:Well come on CRY!

He began repeativily kicking her, each strike harder than the last. Ruby held strong; she sniffled and choked but refused to cry.

Man:What do you think you’re tough now just because you survived in the forest? Then hit me!

Ruby stayed down; The Man bit his bottom lip.

Man:Drag yourself to bed with no food.

Ruby did as she was told, holding her once again battered ribs. Ruby dragged herself through the house.

Man:(Spits) Pathetic…

Fang growled through gritted teeth as he watched Ruby disappear deeper into the house. With a sigh he leapt onto the roof, his footsteps light enough to not make a sound. Ruby’s energy signal was moving upwards till she was almost to the roof it stopped one level below.

Fang:(Thought) An attic?

Ruby Pov:

I came home just to get beaten by my ‘Father’ and sent to my room without any form of food at least I had gotten. breakfast from Fang, I don’t get it I didn't cry cause usually that would mean I'd gotten beaten even worse but now that I didn’t cry he hit me with even greater force than ever.

What was I supposed to do, laugh? Images of Fang flashed through my mind. He was so nice, the warmth of his kindness still lingered within my pale flesh. Why did I leave…cause I didn’t wanna drag him into my problems but he was so nice and what if he could’ve helped.

I reached the attic, it was completely empty there, nothing but the splintering floor and the wall without a window, just a large rectangular hole. A small gust of wind blew into the vacant room hitting my bare skin, with a shiver I slowly moved to lay underneath the window. My body felt heavy once I laid down but the repetitive stings within my body forbad me from going to sleep for quite some time but I finally drifted off to sleep.

No One’s POV:

Fang slid down the roof and vaulted into the attic without making a sound. He looked around to find it was completely empty.

Fang:(Thought) I could’ve sworn her energy signal came from here…

He looked behind him and found Ruby resting under the window, trying to dodge the draft coming through the window.

He silently moved across the splittering floor as he approached the lightly sleeping Ruby. Kneeling beside her he tried to raise her head without waking her. She didn’t awaken…Fang carefully placed her head onto his knee. She didn’t seem to be hurt that badly but…
