"Congratulations. You've cleared the game."

I heave a sigh of relief as I watch the time bomb in the building go off. Spades games are challenging. I prefer Diamond ones.

I look around to see some people crying for their friends who apparently didn't make it. For a moment I feel pity for them but I quickly remind myself of the fact that empathy is not necessarily beneficial when you're trying to stay alive. It's either kill or get killed. Not that I enjoy sacrificing others for my survival, but I would always choose the first option.

I stare at the phone's display, contented to see 6 more days have been added to my visa.

My attention suddenly is drawn to a group of guys who were participating in the game with me. They're entering a car, talking about beaches. My eyes fix on the locker keys around their wrists. I had seen those on several people throughout the last few weeks. My curiosity is kindled, causing me to follow the car. It's not like I just had to make a run for it in the game.

I notice two other people coming from different directions and chasing after the group as well. They seem familiar to me, I might have encountered them in another game before.

I let myself fall behind a little, not wanting to draw too much attention to myself. After I lose sight of the car, I keep following the duo since they seem to be on a similar mission.

We're arriving at a gigantic bridge and I stop, hiding behind some bushes at the bank of the river. I keep watching them as they walk into the center of it.

They seem to have made an astounding discovery, staring at some point to my right. I turn my head into said direction and gasp. I can see an enormous and brightly lit building, looking like some sort of hotel. That's weird, I tried everything but just couldn't seem to get the electricity in this place to work.

I turn my focus back on the two people, just in time to see them getting knocked out and kidnapped. Thank God I decided to stay in the bushes.

"I must admit; you're a lot smarter than your little friends up there."

I quickly turn around to see a guy standing a few feet behind, his face hidden unter the hood of his sweatshirt.

"What do you want?" I ask, taken aback, while slowly moving my hand to the knife I tend to keep in my pant's back pocket.

"You know, I've been watching you ever since the Hide and Seek game. I really admired how you tricked those players into choosing the most obvious hiding spots only to keep your own undiscovered."

I gulp, still feeling sick at the thought of it.

"Of course, I could feel your guilt practically bursting out of your body. Still, A+ for the effort," he says while ambling closer. "I come with a proposal."

"What kind of proposal?" I question him, hoping to buy some time and think of a way to escape this most unfortunate situation.

He carelessly takes off his hood, speaking on, "You don't seem like much of a team player. Now guess what, neither am I. Working alone has its limits, though. I need accomplices for a certain plan which I won't reveal to you just yet. Let me just say, it might get us out of this game."

"I recognise you," I say, inspecting his face, "You must have had a genius hiding spot considering I only ever saw you at the start and end of the game."

He smirks at me in a superior manner.

I continue, "Anyways, how would we proceed if I accepted your offer?"

"I would take you to The Beach, the building you were so eager to find a few minutes ago. Then, once I think the time's ready, I'll let you in on the plan," he replies.

I'm furrowing my brows. "Now, how do I know you're not just trying to kidnap me? Like your people did to those other ones, who aren't my friends by the way."

He rolls his eyes at me. "First of all, they weren't kidnapped. We just don't like having people sneaking around. They'll be fine. Second of all, if I wanted to knock you out, I would've done so already."

I contemplate my chances. "You're right," I slowly start talking, "I ain't a team player." And with those words I grab my pocketknife, driving it towards his abdomen.

He catches my hand, stopping me from causing any injuries. "Hey, easy," he chuckles, "Is that how you thank someone for offering a way to get you out of here?"

I look at him, completely dumbfounded by his reaction speed.

"Now, I was going to play it nice, but it seems like you don't respond to that," he utters, tightening the grip on my wrist, "You got two options. I either knock you out and drag you with me or you stop this nonsense and accompany me willingly. Choose wisely."

I'm not stupid. Obviously I would rather walk with him voluntarily, than to get dragged around whilst being unconscious. And obviously, he knows that.

"Fine, I'll come with you," I therefore respond through gritted teeth.

The smug look on his face confirms my recent thoughts. He lets go of my wrist, holding his hand out instead. "Nice to meet you, partner. My name's Chishiya."

"The pleasure is all mine," I reply sarcastically, ignoring his hand, stomping up the riverbank and making my way towards The Beach.

"God, you'll be quite a piece of work."
