march 31st 1986
steve pulled up to the front of his best friend's house and immediately laid on the horn. he sighed as he waited for the short haired brunette. about three minutes later, she stumbled out of the front door and ran over to the car.
"sorry stevie, i woke up late." robin said breathlessly as she hopped in.
"again?"
"oh come on, i don't oversleep that much." she rolled her eyes and buckled up.
steve laughed and pulled out of the driveway, heading to family video. the two stayed quiet for a few minutes until robin started to fiddle with the radio. "dude what are you doing-" steve slapped her hand away. "don't touch my radio, i've told you this a bunch of times." robin smirked and proceeded to look him in the eyes as she pressed all sorts of different buttons.
"dude!"
she laughed and smiled in satisfaction. they finally got to work, and soon enough they were in buisiness.
-
"steve, what are we having for lunch today?"
"uh i don't know. i think nancy said she would bring some food."
nancy. nancy the perfect priss wheeler. robin frowned slightly at the name. she never really liked nancy. for one, her old best friend barb practically left her for 'little miss perfect'. she wouldn't take the dislike of her as far as to blame her for barb's death, but she was still quite pissed about it. suddenly the door opened. 'speak of the devil.' robin thought.
"hey steve and... your name is robin right?"
"yup. we first 'officially' met at starcourt fighting russains and a giant monster using fireworks."
nancy nodded and put a brown paper bag on the counter. "i brought you guys lunch. it's two hamburgers and some fries. i think there are chicken nuggets too." she nudged the bag towards robin before sighing. "shit i forgot the drinks in my car. wait a second." she quickly sprinted back outside.
"why so stiff?" steve walked over to the girl rummaging through the bag.
"i have no idea what you mean." the boy rolled his eyes and nancy came back in.
"robin, i got you a sweet tea, and steve i got you a root beer." she handed them their drinks, smiling. 'sweet tea's my favorite..'
"thanks." she muttered.
the three stood in silence for a bit. "so uh, what do ya say we all sit outside and eat?" steve suggested, snatching the bag from robin.
"dude what the hell-"
before the girls could say anything, steve ran outside. "dingus." robin picked up her sweet tea and started to follow him. nancy stopped her by tapping her shoulder. "hey uh, i noticed that you're being a little stiff around me. did i do something wrong?"
"no, it's just kind of weird to have nancy wheeler talk to me i guess. you're so popular and pretty and cool, and i'm just a band nerd. a nobody. a loser."nancy tilted her head. "no you aren't. i haven't known you very long but you seem really cool. and you're pretty too. really pretty." a light blush crept its way onto robin's face. "oh. thanks."
"no problem. i'd really like to get to know you better. you seem like a great friend."
robin nodded and walked outside. nancy wheeler? calling her pretty? and saying she seems like a great friend? she had to be dreaming. nancy followed her, and they met up with steve behind the building.
"what took you two so long?"
"nothing, we were just talking. it's not important." robin said quickly. she grabbed her food out of the bag and took a fry. when she took a bite out of her burger, steve and nancy struck up a conversation. while she ate, she looked at the girl next to her. she never really had the time to take a good look at her. she was very pretty. her eyes were beautiful. robin just wanted to stroke her hands through nancy's hair and hold her hand. she wanted to hug her. she wanted to never let go of her. suddenly she started choking in realization.
nancy turned in concern. "robin, are you okay?" robin nodded as she stopped and wiped her watering eyes. she looked back into nancy's eyes.
robin buckley was in love with nancy the priss wheeler.
