"I want a break from this relationship, Jacob," Isioma repeated her statement, her head downcast.
Jacob's eyes widened. He started sweating all over.
"No! No! No! This can't be happening! What exactly do you mean by a break, you b*tch? After all the gifts, the love, the sacrifices?
This one day play with fire," Jacob ranted. At first, he was shocked and thought she was pulling his legs hard, but when he observed her expression, he realized that she was serious. He scowled.
"Okay, fine. A break, huh? Oya, madam, return all the gifts I gave you.""But, Jacob, you gave those things freely to me. Are you seriously going to do this to me?" she said in a trembling voice, with the tears in her eyes dropping and splashing on her blue-colored gown that was adorned with silver beads. The gown was a gift from her older sister.
"Whatever! Don't even start with those crocodile tears," Jacob spat with no remorse.
This time around, before responding, Isioma stood on her feet with so much fierceness, as if she was preparing for a fight.
"Don't you dare act like I didn't forewarn you against this so-called relationship? Weren't you the one that approached me, saying you wanted to make that Holy Mary girl called Jedidah, abi whatever she's called, jealous?'
She continued to speak loud, her face set. This time there was no single tear in her eyes.
Isioma reminded him of the real reason he started their relationship. It was all fake right from the start. He was just using her and she hated that.
Jacob was furious because she brought that up.
"Watch your tongue, lady. Yes, I accept that the initial reason for this relationship was because of her, but as you can see,"—he said, pointing at nowhere in particular—" she is no longer the girl I first met, and I don't like 'boring girls'."
He stood up abruptly from the seat as he finished his words.
"It's better you leave, Jacob. It's over between us! Done and dusted!" she screamed at him, drawing the attention of the other customers in the hangout cafe where they were.
Jacob left the scene before it escalated to something else. He picked up his phone and dialed a number. Peter was his only option for an escape plan right now.
A few minutes after ringing, Peter finally picked up.
"Where are you, Peter?"
"At... Uhm..." Peter hesitated to speak.
"Speak up, man!" Jacob responded with anger.
"I'm at a bar. Dude, what do you even want from me?" Peter finally spoke out.
"Text me the address. I'm coming over," Jacob said with a blank expression.
He sat down on a bench and waited for the text from Peter.
Jacob was sure Peter will get him something that will make him forget the pain he was feeling. He had fallen for Isioma and she chose to break his heart for no reason at all!
She was lucky people were around. If not, he would have made sure she paid for everything he ever bought for her, ranging from the bracelets, necklaces, and most especially the designer Dior trousers he got her as a birthday gift, which had cost him half of his savings.
Jacob received a text. Upon a quick glance at his screen, his sad face brightened.
It was time...............
