"Hey, is it okay if I can take her home?" Karl yelled across the lot.

"I guess, just make it back to the warehouse before 10:00." the other yelled.

"Thanks, Jimmy!" Karl yelled again.

I got in his car and it was pretty nice. Leather interior, smelled good, no trash on the floorboards. Best of all the car had a Bluetooth adapter for a phone. I pulled out my phone to see a shattered, piece of shit Moto.

"Fuck." I said.

"What's up?" Karl asked with a concerned look.

"My phone won't even turn on." I said upset.

"Hold on." Karl said jumping out of the car.

He came back with a box. He handed it to me.

"Whats this?" I asked.

"Open it." He said.

I open it to see a brand new iPhone 12 Pro. I wanted to cry.

"Karl.. I don't know what to say. You didn't have to." I say still shocked.

"I wanted to. Plus it looked like you needed a new one anyway." He said smiling again.

I hugged him tighter than before. He started the car. It made a low-tone purr. I looked at Karl to see him staring at me. I smiled. He smiled back.

*Karl POV*

She was so pretty. Who knew a smile could light up a whole room. Shut up Karl, you just met her. I smiled at her and she smiled back. I turned my eyes back on the road. She connected her new phone to my speaker and played what I assumed was her favorite song.

I still see you in the places we would go like your face is painted on the walls. I've been trying to forget all the moments that we spent cause now I do it on my own.

She was humming the lyrics and before I knew it she was singing along.

"Oh, you and I were like the summer. But now it's winter here on my own. If I would have known, that you wouldn't be here anymore, I wouldve made the moments last a little longer. 'cause now I'm alone, and your just a memory in my mind, i would've given anything to say goodbye. if I would've known." She sang.

"Wow. You're really good at singing." I said.

"Thanks, I've been practicing." She smiled.

"What's the song called?" I asked, curious.

"If I would have known by Kyle Hume." She said staring down the road.

I payed attention to the lyrics and realized why she was playing the song. She missed someone.
