When she came back to town, Katherine didn't expect the Reign Family to take an interest in her. More accurately, one specific Reign who she repeatedly crossed paths with.

Unlike the other prominent families in the supernatural world, the members have more freedom of will and a healthy respect for all three main species. The Reigns rarely marry regular humans and tend to be either witches or wolves, with a few vampires nestled in between.

Katherine heard rumors of fae and dragons, but she didn't put much stock in them.

They tend to not meddle in the affairs of others, so she wondered why this one has been following her.

She turned a corner and waited for the woman to follow her down the alley before speeding behind her. The woman turned around startled and took a step back from Katherine, searching for possible escape routes.

"Who are you and why have you been stalking me?" Katherine crossed her arms.

"What do you think?"

"Well, You're one of the Reigns, which means you know what I am, but you're not here to kill me. I assume you're one of the witches, you have that witchy air about you. How am I doing so far?"

The woman smiled, "Spot on, actually. I'm Aaliyah Reign and it's nice to finally speak to you Katerina Petrova, or do you prefer Katherine Pierce?"

The vampire looked thoughtful. "You can call me Katerina if you answer my question. Why have you been following me?"

"My cousin has been in contact with Elijah and—"

Katherine shoves them up against the wall and wraps a hand around their neck, her voice frantic. "Where is he? Does he know I'm here? What did he want?"

Aaliyah put a hand on the one choking her and called forth fire to burn the wrist. The doppelganger let go and put some space between her and the witch. "If you'd let me finish, Katerina, I'm trying to warn you."

"Why would you do that?"

"You know, you ask a lot of questions without giving me time to answer," she chuckled, "for one, my family follows the drama in this town. The Salvatores and company have caused more problems than you, so we're willing to give you a chance. Elijah doesn't know you're here, but we think he'll find out without us telling him." Aaliyah actually knows that it will happen soon because Omari has Seen it. "I know what you're planning, so keep my family out of it and I'll be willing to help."

Katherine considered what she said. "As much as I appreciate it, what's in it for you? I mean, clearly, you hold the advantage here, but you must want something."

The witch steps closer to her, a small grin on their face. "Just a simple IOU, for now. As you said, I hold the advantage and others backing me up that are actually loyal. I'll help you out as long as it doesn't clash with my own plans," she sticks her hand out, "Deal?"

Katherine considers her words again. She's sceptical because what's required of her hasn't been made clear, but turning down this offer will most likely be worse than taking it, so she made her decision. Shaking Aaliyah's hand, she says, "Deal. I hope I don't regret it, Aaliyah." She speeds away and the witch watches her go.

"You won't, Katerina." They start on their walk home, pulling out their phone to call their older brother, Lamar.

"I assume it went well?"

"Yep, Katerina agreed to our help and owes us a favor. I'm on my way back."

"Katerina, huh? I can only imagine what you'll use that favor for." He sounded smug.

"She said I can call her by her original name, so I am. Bitch, I'm a lesbian?"

"I thought you were American." There's a beat of silence before they both laugh. "Make sure you pick up lunch. I ordered from the Grill 'cause it's the cheapest."

"We both know money isn't an issue."

"Fine, it's 'cause I wanted a milkshake that wouldn't melt by the time it got home. Just hurry up before I send Shani after you."

"Alright, alright. Seeya at home." As they hung up, they realized they never got the vampire's number. She'll just have to remember to ask the next time they meet.
