"You know I want you," Melanthios tells him, "It's not a secret I try to hide."
Lotor looks off to the side with a gloomy expression, not responding to his statement.
"I know you want me," Thios tries again, "So don't keep sayin' our hands are tied."
Lotor finally looks at him and is graced with a hopeful smile. "Your sister would never allow our relationship to continue. Not after all of the things I have done." He tears up, not from shame, but knowing that the consequences of his actions have finally caught up to him.
Thios gently wipes his tears away, cupping his cheeks for comfort. "I will not allow my sister, or anyone else, to dictate how I live my life. I can hardly hold you at fault, as I have been by your side through most of it, however non-corporeal I might've been at the time."
Lotor leans into his touch for comfort, though he is unconvinced he deserves it. "You know I want you," he looks into his love's eyes, "It's not a secret I try to hide."
Thios grants him another heartwarming smile, making his decision all the more difficult.
"But I can't have you," the smile drops and is replaced by a look as tragic as he felt. Lotor pulls away from Thios' touch and starts walking away. "We're bound to break and my hands are tied."
Watching the person he planned to spend the rest of his life with walk away from him was the worst experience. Even worse than the 10,000 years he spent as a spirit. At least then he eventually found Lotor. Now, he is leaving and taking Thios' heart with him.
He let out a heart wrenching sob as his knees buckled and he collapsed, hoping, wishing, and praying this isn't the last he'll see of Lotor, who was doing his best to hold in tears and keep walking as he heard the only person who's ever truly cared for him break down. He has to continue on, knowing that he's the reason.
