I wake up to a surprise, that was the first night in 7 months that I haven't had that dream. I hear a small knock on my door, so I go up and answer it. It's Mark.
"Detective Cole, are you nearly ready to go to the gun shop?"
"Umh-huh, just let me get changed and I'll be out in a minute."
"okay" he replied. With that he walks out of my house and waits outside of the door. I put my suit on, quickly put my tie on, pick out a pair of my favourite detective shoes and grab my hat on the way out of the door.
I walk out and head to his car and jump in. He opens the door to the drivers seat and turn the engine on. I keep thinking that he could of done it.
"What are you thinking about?" he asks.
Oh-no! Quick think of something or he'll get suspicious. Quick! Hurry up!
"Oh, umm, I was just thinking that we have too many people at work and we should see if everybody deserves to keep their job, I was actually thinking of talking to Chief Johnson today." I say, trying not to give away the fact that I wasn't really thinking that at all. It's not exactly a lie though, I was going to speak to my Boss about how there are "too many people in work" and they should write a letter explaining why they should stay.
"That's a bit harsh, isn't it?"he states.
"No, I might lose my job as well but I never said that anyone would actually lose their job"I reply kindly.
"What do you mean?"
"Well I never actually said that Chief Johnson would decide that anyone should lose their job"
"oh, right" he says smiling.
We get out of the car and I see the shop. I look in the window and see Mr Daniel. I open the door and hear the sound of a bell ringing.
"oh, hello there, umm, Detective Cole? What are you doing here?"
"Well we are trying to find out who killed my neighbour about 8 months ago. This is the gun that was used and it has your shop name on it. I was wondering if you could see who purchase this gun?"
"of course I can" he replies.
"oh, and put these gloves on, later we will try to track the finger prints"
He puts the gloves on and starts looking on his computer. Can he not just hurry up? What is taking him so long? I am starting to get really impatient.
"I found something!" Finally! "ok, here" he points to his screen, "it says that the gun was bought exactly before the attack on your neighbour, just one minute, I have some CCTV footage from when the gun was bought."
He shows us the video and I am too shocked to explain it to the rest of the staff. It was Chief Johnson, he planned the attack, I think. He bought the gun, I definitely know that. He was involved in killing my neighbour. But why? What had he done? Was Chief Johnson the murderer?
I turn around and point my finger at him, he looks me straight in the eye and then starts to mumble something, gradually getting louder.
"I did it, I didn't murder him, I didn't plan the attacks, I only had contact with the person that planned it on the phone, they masked their voice and didn't say what his name was. I'm sorry! Please! But I had my reasons to do it!"
"What do you mean?" I yell at him.
"He did something unforgivable!"
"What? What did he do?"
"He, He..."
What did he do? Sorry I didn't update yesterday but my laptop was stole by my brother :) I decided to update today though. I need to think of what he should do, if you have any ideas I will include them in the story somehow. Thank you for 50 reads! I will try to update tomorrow again, if I can think of what he should do! The actual story was 620 words, so it is more or less double of what I normally do, I had a lot of ideas today. I don't know what you think of this story, so please tell me in the comments and please, please, please give me some ideas :)
