I told you guys I'd be back! I'm working on the remaining chapters as fast as possible (AFAP, if you will), but it's a bit difficult. What, with trying to remember how I wanted everything to happen and when to end the whole thing.
But hey, this part is here now! Enjoy!!
.....
"Helloo, sleeping beautyy?" a gleeful voice greeted her.
D-1649 turned over to see the Doctor, as usual, lifting the blanket to wake her up. She could almost feel him smiling at her. He giggled once he saw her eyes open.
"Fall asleep, did we? At such an early time, as well."
"I guess so," she responded, rubbing her eyes.
"Well, hopefully you are well rested now. I have something for you."
"What is it?"
"Come out and see for yourself."
She squeezed her way out of the prison. Directly after standing, the Doctor held a notebook out to her, eager for her to take it. She did so and quickly flipped through the pages. It was filled almost from cover to cover with information on the French language.
"When did you have time to do all of this?"
"Ah, just before I went to bed last night."
D-1649 looked up to him, surprised.
"You went to bed on your own?"
"Yes. I did not want you to worry if I had not."
A smile spread across her face.
"See? It helps, doesn't it? I'm happy that you're taking better care of yourself."
A chill ran up my spine as my face turned red. Knowing that she was happy and smiling surely was a treat.
"I... I will try my best to develop it into a habit," he said, glancing towards his desk. "Ah, yes. You must eat."
"You better come over here, too. I don't want to watch your sad excuse for catching," she mumbled jokingly, walking over to the desk. At some point she halted. "Sorry, that was rude."
He laughed, making his way towards her.
"There is no need to apologize. I do not want to watch my own poor skills, either. It is quite embarrassing."
D-1649 took a seat, immediately handing the Doctor a piece of cheese. He stood next to her, propping himself up with a hand on the back of her chair. They ate together in silence, splitting the food almost evenly. When she handed her glass of water to him, their hands nearly touched.
Now that her hands were free and the desk was cleared, D-1649 began examining the Doctor's new notebook more closely. As per usual, the writing was extensive and seemed very detailed. But something was missing.
"Hm? You seem dissatisfied, Sixtine," the Doctor commented, leaning down to her. She met his eye.
"Ah! Nothing is wrong about it, it's just that..." she contemplated how to admit it. "All of your other journals have sketches all through them, but there aren't any in here."
For some reason, her complaint made me feel guilty. But I was slightly confused.
"Languages are not usually very photographic, Sixtine."
