Chapter 2

Thursday Afternoon

As training camp came to an end for the weekend, Ali could feel the excitement building up inside of her, her and Will had been apart for 3 weeks now and she couldn't wait to give him a cuddle finally. She was going to surprise Will by coming to set a day earlier than planned. So, she had already packed her stuff and decided to head there straight from training. Ali really wasn't someone who cared much about her appearance, it really didn't matter to her that her hair was in a slick back bun, and she was still in her training kit because that's how she looked when she played on live television in front of hundreds.

Ali had private messaged Rhea earlier on in the week to get the address off the set so Will didn't get suspicious. The drive to the set was only about an hour away, so she blasted her music with her windows down as it was a nice day. When she pulled up to the set the security guard stopped her and asked for her name, which hopefully Rhea had remembered to put on the list. The guard waved her through, 'thank god' she thought 'that would of been super embarrassing if he didn't let me in, he probably thought I was some crazed fan'. She parked up her black Mercedes and called Rhea who answered straight away and came running towards the car, she was so excited to see her and gave Ali a hug.

Ali towered over Rhea as she is only small, if Ali was honest she towered over most people, except Will which she found some comfort in. Most of Ali's self conscious thought were about her height, she had been bullied tirelessly in school about how she was 'a giant' with some stupid boys even going as far to tell her she looked like a man. Over the years, she had come to appreciate her height and realised that it was something she would just have to accept and love about herself.

Ali shook off her anxious thoughts and followed Rhea over to where Will was currently running lines with Yasmin, Tobie, and Joe. He had his back to the direction she was coming from so he wouldn't see her; Rhea had made sure of this; she was probably as excited as Ali was to surprise Will which made Ali feel all warm inside as she loved the fact her best friend was getting on so well with the rest of the cast.

Ali stood directly behind Wills set chair waiting patiently for him to turn around, after about 30 seconds the rest of the group were all smiling and giggling waiting for Will to get the shock of his life. Will lifted his head up to see what they were all laughing at and turned his head around when he realised, they were looking directly behind him. His head shot round so quickly it looked like it was about to snap, Ali swears she's never seen him move so quickly before and he practically tackled her to the floor when he realised who the tall figure was that stood behind him.

'OH MY GOD ALI, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE? I THOUGHT YOU WERE COMING TOMORROW' Will screamed whilst still crushing Ali with a hug.

'I was but I wanted to surprise you so SURPRISE! Rhea helped me set it all up'

Will shot a cheeky wink at Rhea before turning back round to study his best friends face, they were both beaming from ear to ear with pure love filling the air. After Will had finished smothering Ali half to death he turned round and introduced her to everyone around. They all proceeded to give her a hug individually one after one introducing themselves, by now Bash, Corrina and Kizzy had joined the group with them all swarmed around her. Ali felt somewhat anxious during this as she never really took well to being the centre of attention, they were throwing compliments at her as fast as a shooting gun. 

Ali and the cast all sat at a round table with lunch spread around.

'So Ali, Will tells us you're the captain of the England netball team, that's so cool' Joe said interrupting the silence.

'Well yeah I'm the captain of the Under 21s team, I'm not old enough to play for the top team yet but hopefully one day' Ali replied with a sweet smile plastered on her face.

'That sounds amazing, I bet you get to travel to loads of different countries to play against them' Bash chimed in.

'Yeah, it's so cool being able to see different countries and their cultures, it is defiantly one of the perks of the sport'

'Did you know Ali is going to be playing in the Commonwealth Games in August, theyre being held in Birmingham and England are top to win so she might come back with a gold medal!' Will shouted before anyone else was able to ask her another question. They all looked amazed and continued asking questions about the sport, Ali deduced that most of them have probably never watched a netball game before so Ali being the polite girl that she is said

'I'm probably able to get tickets to a few matches if any of you are around in August to come watch us play. They're so fun to watch, no matter what Willy says about them being 'boring', she shot a glance at Will who threw his hands in the air and stated 'They may be boring but I still come to everyone of your matches don't I', Will winked at her as everyone else erupted into laughter.

'I'm sure most of us will be able to come, it sounds so fun I used to play in school but I was terrible' Corrina interrupted the laughter, making sure that Ali's offer was not ignored. Everyone else agreed and made sure to add Ali into their group chat so she was able to let them know about the tickets and so they had a way of communicating with their new found friend.

'Alright Alright, I'm going to take my amazing bestie on a tour of the set if you will excuse us' Will said as he lifted himself off his chair grabbing Ali's hand and pulling her to her feet. Everyone shouted 'see you later' as Will tugged her towards a set of blue doors that seemed to lead into a school hallway. Will led Ali through the corridors telling her little fun facts along the way and showing her various rooms where they filmed some of the scenes. As the tour was ending, Will guided Ali into a small room that had his name plastered on the front of it in big capital letters.

'And this is my dressing room, well I do actually share it with Bash, but I took his name off the door to annoy him' Will laughed.

'Well, that was very mean of you now wasn't it Willy' Ali shared the same humour and realised that is exactly what she would do to someone, especially Will.

Will pulled her towards himself and whispered 'I've missed you so much, like honestly I feel like I have been missing a limb the past 3 weeks and now it's finally been reattached' Ali smiled as she embraced him for at least the tenth time that day.

Ali broken the silence 'the rest of the cast are all so lovely I don't think I have ever been asked that many questions about netball before, I hope they don't think that that's my whole personality'.

Will frowned at her, 'of course they don't, they all loved you and I'm sure they loved talking about something other than acting for once or what they are going to have for tea tonight' Will laughed.

They went over to the couch that sat in the right-hand corner of the room, facing the door 'I think we're all going out for food tonight and before you even say anything, yes you are invited and yes you do have to dress up'. Ali jokingly pouted at this remark knowing that if anyone else would have said it she probably would've got upset but not with Will she knew in his eyes she was his best friend who wore training kit and rocked a greasy bun when she met celebrities. 'That sounds nice' Ali replied, 'maybe not the part about getting dressed up but I'm sure that this once I can make an effort to look pretty' shooting a wink at Will who replied, 'you're always pretty you silly girl, even if you do have mayonnaise on the side of your mouth'. Ali flushed red as she realised Will was not joking and she did have a blob on mayo on the corner of her mouth, she felt so embarrassed and hoped that the rest of the cast hadn't noticed, of course she knew they probably had but were too nice to say anything, she proceeded to wipe the side of her mouth and pull her tongue at Will who sat there giggling.

As her and Will sat and talked about life and everything that had happened in the last 3 weeks, someone burst through the door...
