The final whistle blew, Ali ran towards the rest of her teammates.
'London Pulse are through to the Netball Superleague final with an amazing victory of 75-46 against Loughborough Lightening' the commentators voice boomed over the speakers and the arena was filled with cheers from the fans. All of the players were huddled in the middle of the court dancing around and celebrating their amazing win, Ali's parents, Will and Kit were all screaming their heads off, joining in with the fans chants. Ali received player of the match and her parents couldn't be prouder of her, she had one of the best games of her life.
Once the players had all left the court, Ali's parents, Will and Kit all went to wait in the lobby for her, they all couldn't be prouder of her especially Kit. He had never witnessed a netball game before, but he was absolutely mesmerised from the blow of the first whistle, every interception Ali got he'd stand up cheering for her, he'd never seen someone so determined and it really did deepen the way he viewed her. She wasn't just a beautiful, kind girl she was an athlete who had amazing talent and drive, he now understood why she trained so hard and was in absolute awe of her.
Ali ran out of the changing rooms as quickly as she could and ran towards the group.
'We did it!' she exclaimed throwing her arms around both of her parents who beamed with prime
'We're so proud of you Ali, I can't believe how amazing you played, it has got to be one of your best matches ever!' her mum said still wrapped in Ali's arms
She finally let go of them and ran up to Will 'Ali you were unbeatable out there I can't get over how well you played, I can't wait to watch the final next weekend!' he gave her a big hug and when he released her, he pushed her towards Kit who was stood there completely in awe of her.
'That was unbelievable Alexandra, I've never seen a sports match like it before. You were amazing' Ali couldn't speak, she felt lost for words, she grabbed Kit and pulled him into a strong hug practically wrapping her legs around his waist, he matched her force and didn't want to let go. She pulled out of the hug and kissed him, she shocked herself by how forward she was especially in front of her parents who just pretended not to notice. She pulled away and blushed eventually saying 'thank you so much for coming, you must be my lucky charm KitKat', blush rose up Kits neck and onto his cheeks. They eventually parted and casually turned back round to face Will and her parents who just smiled at her and started walking out of the exit.
She waved goodbye to her parents and headed to the car with Will and Kit; their favourite restaurant Carlo's wasn't too far away from Ali's house, they had been going there for years now and had become well acquainted with the owners.
'Ali, Will, its so good to see you!' Carlo the owner of Carlo's shouted to them as they walked into the front door.
'Hey Carlo, it's good to see you too!' Ali walked over to the tall skinny Italian man and gave him a hug.
'We were just watching your match on the tele, you played amazing as always miss. Usual table guys?'
'Yeah, that would be great Carlo would you mind making it a table for 3 we have our friend with us' Will pointed over at Kit who was stood by the main entrance.
'Of course, of course, follow me gang'
The three of them followed him into the back section of the restaurant, the table was placed right next to the big bay window that had a view of the surrounding field and on a warm June evening it made for a beautiful backdrop.
The group sat and talked for a couple of hours about absolutely anything they could think of; the food was amazing, and Carlo and his partner brought out a free cheesecake for them all to celebrate Ali's win. They decided to leave around half seven as Will and Kit needed to catch the next train back to where they were filming. As they were walking out and saying goodbye to Carlo and his partner, Carlo said to Ali
'So, Miss Ali, is this your boyfriend?' slyly nodding towards Kit, Ali went bright red and stared at Kit who was also now matching her shade 'erm well,' Will interjected, saving Ali from having to explain.
'Carlo, I need to make a reservation for next week actually' throwing his arm around Carlo's shoulder and leading him away from Ali and Kit who just stared at each other.
They still hadn't had the conversation about what they were yet nor did either of them have the courage to initiate this particular conversation that could become awkward if they didn't feel the same.
Before they left the restaurant Ali needed the toilet.
'One sec guys, I just need to go the toilet' she ran towards the bathrooms
'Hey Will, I was just thinking I might stay here for the night, I've only got a 11pm call time tomorrow so I'll be able to get the early train in the morning. I kinda wanna'
'You wanna spend time with Ali don't you?' Will questioned
'Well yeah' Kit looked at him embarrassed
'Yeah, that's fine I don't mind going back on my own I need to go over my lines for tomorrow anyway, you go have fun'
Kit scratched the back of his head 'do you think she'll want me to hang around?'
'Are you mad of course she will, just ask her when she comes out of the toilet'
Suddenly Ali appeared beside Kit before he even had chance to think of what he was going to say
'Everything okay?'
'Yeah, everything's fine we were just talking about Kit staying in Croydon for the night'
'Oh, how come?' Ali asked turning to look at Kit.
'Erm well, I kinda wondered if we could hang out a bit. You can say no of course, I know you're probably tired after your match'
Ali smiled a really sweet smile 'of course, I'd love that, my parents are out we can just hang out at mine' a smile had reached Kits face now, happy to be spending some time alone with Ali.
'Okay bestie, I'll see you next weekend for your final!' Will said as he was about to go catch the train, he pulled her into a hug 'I'm so proud of you Al, more than you'll ever know. Now go spend some time with your boyfriend' he pulled away and winked at her 'not my boyfriend William, now go I'll see you next week'.
Ali got back in the car and flashed a beaming smile at Kit, 'okay lets go to mine then' she said as she pulled out of the car park, she felt nervous but didn't know why.
