Reilly Byrne is an INTERPOL agent on leave after a tragic incident involving her lover and former partner. She's laying low in Bucharest, attending regular therapy appointments as directed by the agency, and trying to piece together what's left of her life.
For a year, the apartment next door to hers has been unoccupied, until one day, Reilly comes home to find her landlady handing the keys to a tall, dark, and handsome stranger with nothing but a backpack strapped to his back. She learns that his name is James. He's quiet, polite, soft-spoken, shy, and keeps to himself.
But at night, he wakes her up through their shared wall with vicious screams.
As the two of them slowly get to know each other, a catastrophic world event forces them to hide out in the building from the terror that's lurking outside.
When they band together, they'll learn each other's secrets, and realize that all they have is each other to survive the end of the world.

I decided to re-work this plot completely and jump into a genre that I've never written before: zombies/dystopia/the end of the world. I'm thinking more along the lines of The Night Eats the World and 28 Days Later meets The Road. Those are some of my favorite pieces of post-apocalyptic fiction.
