DNA - Lis Marie Johnson

It isn't easy.

No, it's never easy.

What Lisa and Yeosang were about to do, for any child who went through numbers of abuse as a kid, would understand how frighten and anxious they feel at this very moment as they sit on this metal table - waiting to speak with their mother.

The woman who gave birth to them.

The same woman..... Who made their life a living hell.

Years upon years of neglection, choosing drugs over the well-being of their lives, and failing in every aspect what is it to be a mother to her kids.

She failed them, and they hit rock bottom because of it, but raised up together.

Stronger.

Yet that didn't mean they're tough enough to face her.

They aren't.

Three years.

Three years since they've seen her face, and it's anything but a joyful reunion to say the least.

Unfortuntely the middle child isn't able to be here now, but he has a bigger foe to face.

And that's their father.

They just have to remind themselves that this is to obtain information, nothing more than that.

For all of their safety.

Yet it still wasn't easy.

Yeosang out of the two felt it the most. It was like a vile that slid down his throat in cold shiver of a panicked anxiety. No matter how much he tried to tell himself to be professional and to hold his end by looking around the large room - filled with plants and windows to make it feel welcoming, yet he can't stop feeling that trickling of emotional fear that came with the memories he had to the mere thought of seeing his mother again.

His mother.

The woman who he knew hated him.

She hated all of them.

And it sucks because that's still his mother, and it's killing him from the inside.

"Hey," Yeosang stops glaring at his leg shaking when Lisa's hand settles over it, reaching to take his hand tightly, "We can do this okay? Just let me do all the talking."

Yeosang could barely move, but he did manage to just barely give off a nod.

Just as the double doors opened to the room, followed by various women and men dressed in white enter inside the room.

And one of them being that familiar woman.

Someone who Yeosang couldn't look at the second his eyes landed to her.

He just.... Couldn't.

Yet by the subtle glance he had when they made eye contact, she appeared healthier.

Her frail slim body was now gaining more pounds. Skin once sickly pale from the drugs and lack of nutrients has regained color. Eyes filled with bruises now have healed with sleep.

And..... She looked more... Alive.

His mother.

Yeosang's lips tried not to wobble, especially as he feels her closing in on them beside finally sitting down on the chair opposite to them.

That suffocation..... Right there at Yeosang's chest.... Fuck...

It hurts.

He can't breathe.
