@imthe13threasonSorry that this is rushed. I didn't want it to take too long to publish, but I also didn't really wanna rewrite some parts because I'm lazy—
Damian had heard, felt, and seen many things throughout his life. But today, he probably felt the weirdest thing he's ever felt, if not the weirdest.
And it started with Anya, of all people.
He sat there, staring intently at the three across from him on the playground. The sound of laughter rang out from the small group, and they looked happy, their smiles wide. They had been talking and joking around for a while now, and it seemed they were getting along great so far.
Anya and Becky were hanging out with a boy whose family had recently moved to Ostania, and he was able to somehow get into Eden. He seemed very nice, though a little on the shy side however. But ever since the two girls greeted him that morning when he got off one of the buses, he seemed to open up to them, no issue.
And it was pissing Damian off to no end.
'Look at them, smiling and laughing,' he thought, inner tone full of malice. His eyebrows kneaded together in annoyance. 'He acts like he can just come in here and hang out with her like it's nothing! She— I—... Ugh!'
All of a sudden, the boy kicked out at the ground, sending wood chips flying. However, as he realized he did this, his attention moved to the ground, a little surprised. Why did he do that? Why did he suddenly feel so irked? What was even happening?
"Lord Damian!" he heard Emile call, and he looked over. His two followers were staring at him in confusion, probably wondering why he was doing whatever he was doing. Say, what was he doing?
"What's so interesting over there?" Ewen questioned, moreso to himself, a brow raised. The two boys looked past Damian to find the answer, and once they saw the group, they looked at one another in a confused silence.
It was just Anya, Becky and the new kid. What was so interesting about them? Could he have been curious? Could he have just been staring off into space, and happened to be facing that direction? Why did he care about that commoner?
"It's nothing..!" Damian was quick to defend himself, his cheeks flushing as he did. They had started to notice this becoming more of a common occurrence whenever Anya was mentioned or involved, and it was normal at this point. He seemed to catch on too, because he jerked his head away to hide his reddened face. "It's nothing! She's just... being obnoxiously loud from the other side of the playground! Yeah, that's it!"
Emile and Ewen just looked at him, not believing this excuse for one second. What was Damian's problem? He always acted strangely nowadays; he was always caught staring at his pink haired classmate, and he hasn't really insulted her much either (at least, not in a serious sense). He had changed since their first encounter.
"Don't look at me like that!" He pointed at the two, his tone defensive. Then, his arm moved to point at the group, who was now behind him. "I don't care about her! Seriously!" He huffed and brought his arm down, to cross both in irritation, and he turned to look in their direction again. "I mean, come on! What's there to..."
Damian suddenly went quiet, as soon as his eyes fell on the three. They went wide, and the sight before him was his breaking point.
They stood there where they had been this whole time. The new kid was smiling happily, and his arm was extended, his hand gently patting Anya's head. Anya didn't seem to mind it - in fact, she smiled and giggled. Her reaction would've had to of been the worst part.
The next thing he knew, Damian was storming over without realizing at first that he was, determined. They noticed him after a few moments, and they turned to look his way, confused. He didn't pay that any mind, all he cared about was getting over to this kid.
Then, the moment he was close enough, he shoved the boy, who stumbled back. He, for whatever reason he could not understand, glared daggers at him, watching as he stood there, looking bewildered. The playground went silent, and all attention was on Damian.
He stared deep into the boy's eyes, as if asking for a fight. He didn't say anything, or move — he just stood there, watching as this new kid stared back, nervous and unsure of how to respond.
'How dare you touch her with your grubby hands,' Damian wanted so badly to say; but his look probably spoke for him. 'How dare you even come NEAR her. Damn it, she's supposed to be mine-!'
Anya stared at him in complete silence, reading his thoughts. His? What did that mean? She tilted her head a bit, a look of calmness across her face, as she watched the 'Second Son' stare her new friend down. She didn't know whether to feel flattered, disgusted or insulted by his thoughts.
"...Yours?" she mumbled unconsciously, raising a brow. Damian slowly turned to look her way, his expression melting into one of confusion. The two were looking at each other quietly, Damian being more puzzled as to what just happened, and Anya being more relaxed about it than she intended. "Are you possessive?"
"Wha—?" Damian cocked a brow, before he felt his face heat up. The realization of what he had just done and why he had done it began to dawn on him. Was he... jealous? But why was he jealous of someone like her? "N-No! Shut up!"
At that moment, Anya gave him a little smile and walked over. He watched as she did, and she reached a hand up to pat his head softly, like her new friend was doing to her just a few minutes ago. He blinked, not sure of how to respond at the moment, until he reached up and smacked her hand away.
"Don't touch me, you uggo-!" he suddenly blurted, before he turned and ran away, heading towards the building. Anya, Becky, their new friend, and Damian's followers all watched as he did this, confused as all get out at what the hell just happened.
'I'll never admit I like her— No, wait, scratch that! I do NOT like her! I can't!!' Damian told himself as he ran away, not realizing Emile and Ewen were beginning to follow. 'I can't like someone like her! She's a stupid commoner!'
Anya watched as he ran away, her expression one of irritation now. Becky, after helping up the new kid, walked to her side and tapped her on the shoulder, getting her attention. "See what I mean when I tell you he's just a weirdo?" she questioned, frowning.
She waited a moment to respond, thinking carefully. But all she could say back was: "...I guess you're right. He is a weirdo."
That could not have ended in a more stupid way, and I apologize for that. I was running out of motivation and I wanted to finish this before I put it off for who knows how long—
