A peaceful day was in store for the Forgers. No current missions for Loid, and a day off from work for Yor. Unfortunately, Anya still had to attend school, and now her parents were alone in their apartment.

Loid stood in the kitchen, currently making lunch. Yor was on the couch, having a cup of tea as she thought to herself. There was a comfortable silence in the room, although it was strange, being off on the same day. Nonetheless, neither of them were complaining.

Yor looked over at the kitchen window, seeing Loid with his back turned. She stared at him for a moment, smiling a bit as she did. 'That was really thoughtful of him, making lunch for the both of us,' she told herself as she faced forward again. 'Besides, he probably wouldn't want me to cook and almost set the apartment on fire again like last time.'

Her smile disappeared momentarily as she recalled that day. At least no one was hurt and there were no damages to the apartment itself, but did she ever feel bad. She turned to look at her husband again, remembering that at the time, he seemed really worried about her and Anya. But the way he showed genuine concern... it made her feel special, in a way. Or at least, she thought it was something like that.

That's when she turned her gaze to look across the room, and her eyes caught sight of their record player, tucked away on one of the shelves. They had bought it together one day, deciding to treat themselves, in a way. Loid even asked her about her favorite song, and he made sure to also purchase a record that had that song.

"Do you want me to put the record on?" Loid questioned out of the blue, and Yor nearly jumped out of her skin. She didn't expect to be dragged out of her thoughts, but when she was, she was in for quite a surprise. He leaned back a bit, seeming a tiny bit startled as well, before he gave her a small smile. "Sorry if I scared you, Yor. I was just bringing in lunch."

"N-No, it's fine!" The woman quickly regained her composure, sitting up straight on the couch. She watched them as Loid sat the lunch tray on the coffee table, which had some sandwiches and a small plate of cookies. But, before he sat down in his chair, he took a look over at the record player, and then walked towards it.

"Why don't we put some music on? It'd be our first time using it since we bought it."

He carefully slid the record out of its case, and Yor watched as he took the player off of the shelf it was kept on, putting it on top. It didn't take him long to set it up, and get it up and running. The song began, soft and quiet in the beginning, and the man stepped back.

"I remember, my mother used to sing this to me and Yuri when we were little," Yor began all of a sudden, standing herself up from the couch. Loid turned to look her way, watching as she recalled old memories with a smile. "Whenever I listen to it, I think of her, holding me close and singing to me before bed or when I was sad."

A memory came to Yor in that moment, and she closed her eyes as it played out. A woman with black hair and scarlet red eyes was holding her, humming the song as she smiled down at her. She suddenly opened her eyes as it came to a close, disappearing as quick as it came.

Loid, however, didn't have many memories like this. Although, his mother would sometimes hold him and rock him to sleep, taking his mind off of everything happening around them. Typically, he buried these memories deep down, as he had left his old life behind. But they sometimes came back to haunt him anyway.

They would have, too, if it wasn't for Yor coming towards him. He noticed from the corner of his eye, and he turned his attention to the woman, watching as she did.

"Say, do you... like to dance?" she asked all of a sudden, her cheeks turning pink as she processed the words that came out of her mouth. She looked a little off to the side, instinctively holding onto her arm, mentally prepared for any rejection. "I mean, I was just wondering. I wasn't asking for any specific reason."

Loid blinked, tilting his head. He wouldn't necessarily say he liked to dance, but he knew how to. And for some strange reason, there was a small voice in the back of his mind that was urging him to say yes to that question, and offer Yor a dance in their living room. He didn't get why, though. But he would go along with it for now.

"...That sounds nice," he responded a moment later, watching as she lifted her head up to look at him in surprise. As he gave her a soft smile, she couldn't help but return it, unable to help but feel happy at hearing this.

He held out his hand then, and she looked to him, and the smile upon her face grew a bit. She reached out, taking his hand into her own as he led her over, and he brought her closer. Laying her head against his chest, Yor closed her eyes as she listened to the music. Loid rested his head against hers, beginning to stare off into space.

The two held onto one another, slowly swaying back and forth to the music. It was like the whole world was starting to disappear around them, like only they existed in that moment. It was nice, to be close like this and have a peaceful moment. It was certainly a great change of pace from their normal, every day lives.

'When I'm around him, I feel... safe, and I don't feel as alone as I had before we met,' Yor thought, letting out a small content sigh. As her eyes opened for a moment, she felt her face warm up, and it didn't take her long to realize she was blushing. 'He's been so kind to me. And even if we sometimes don't see each other throughout the week because of work, it's always nice to spend time with him on our days off.'

'While she sometimes takes me by surprise, I have to admit... she's something else. She's also a good wife and a great mother to Anya.' Loid closed his eyes as well then, feeling himself... relax. That was definitely new. But it felt nice, and he didn't ever want to leave this moment.

But, deep down, he knew that it wouldn't last forever. He knew that despite how comfortable he would grow into his new life with his family, it would all just be for the mission. And then, he'd have to leave.

That little nagging thought reminding him of this made him almost jolt up, feeling the peace of the moment fleeing. Yor must have felt that he suddenly got tense, because she lifted up her head, looking up at Loid, confusion and slight concern on her face. "Are you alright? You just became tense out of nowhere."

"...Yes. I'm fine." Even if that was a complete lie, Loid could hide that fact behind a small (but fake) smile, looking down at her. "I was just thinking, is all. I must've gotten too deep in thought."

"Oh... well, if you want to stop and sit down—"

"No, it's fine!"

Loid suddenly almost blurting this out took them both by surprise. He blinked, staring at her, while she tilted her head, raising a brow. It was then he quickly shook his head, trying to calm down. "I meant... no, it's fine. I'll be fine. We can continue if you want."

"Well..." Yor looked off for a moment, trying to think. If Loid was tired or stressed or anything, she didn't want to push him. But looking back at him, she saw what seemed to be sincerity in his eyes. It seemed neither of them wanted this to end. "Okay. That'd be nice. If you're sure."

So, the two fell silent again, holding each other close once more as the music filled the room. Even if this marriage was built for the sake of his mission, and her 'job', they could still have this moment together.

They could only dream of this moment to go on forever. But even if if couldn't, that was fine, so long as they could have that moment now.

That was all they needed.
