Birds sang all morning as the warm sunlight touched my skin. My body hummed with energy as it made me feel more alive after the long rest. Pang hit me like a smack as the side of my head rushed. Eagerly, I sat up quickly as my eyes hurt to open. The sunlight was brighter than ever as the whole room was lit. A sigh parted my lips slightly as I was back in the room I've been held in. But the curtains were actually open for once. I pulled back the golden sheets and was put in different garments. Lounge pants that were soft inside, making my skin warm for once. The shirt matched the bloodied red pants and it didn't leave cleavage, I was modest for once. Not sure if I was dreaming still, I pinched my arm over and over till it swelled and bled.

"I am still here," my breath soft and groggy.

I got out of bed and started to open the door. Moments before my hand touched the door knob, it had opened quickly and the maid was there. She held a dark silver platter with full sized fruits and what smelled to be eggs, but it looked more delicate and sweet.

"Oh, you're awake. I thought you'd still be out so I had to make sunlight wake you," she said innocently. She came into the room and set the platter at the end of the bed.

"How long was I out for?" I asked as my eyes followed her. She wore her hair up tight in a bun, her outfit was the most traditional maid clothing but it had red lining along the front that looked like roses. She looked like she was in her thirties. Her perfume smelled more old-lady like though.

"As I can remember from what Sir Helsing said, you have been out since Saturday evening."

"What day is it?" I dared to ask.

"It is Monday morning."

I have been knocked out for over a day? I probably have a concussion! They let me sleep for that long? I don't even know what really happened.

"I don't know what happened but my head hurts and I am dressed differently now. What is going on?" I practically yelled out. My head throbbed from raising my voice and it made me wince.

She turned to me and clasped her hands together elegantly, "Sir Helsing had your head checked by the manor's most efficient doctor and aided you already. You will be okay as long as you eat and lay low. Sir Helsing wants to see you once you eat, so hurry up and get dressed." She left the room and closed the door. My temple pulsed in frustration as I glared at the food. I cursed several times to myself as I looked at the platter closely. Nectarines, a plum, a handful of huckleberries, and some vanilla pudding. Why so extravagant? This is more than a breakfast but dessert. I wanted meat for once. But I couldn't pass up the food before me and decided to hold back from being stubborn at this moment. This may be my last moment to have something this good.

After I ate what I could, I opened the dresser and one hanger hung there with a dress. It looked super rich by the way it was seamed. I pulled it out and it was a beautiful honey color, like gold. But it didn't shine like gold. It was like velvet, or suede. Unsure about it fitting me, I glided it over my head and pulled it down. It fit perfectly. My stomach knotted as I wondered how it fit this well. Did he measure me? When I was asleep? I shook my head to clear the thoughts from my wretched brain and fixed the waistline.

I turned to the mirror and did my best to braid my hair back from my face. On second thought, I hated the way I looked and ripped my fingers through the braid and made my hair relax along my chest and mid back. I stood there in front of the gold framed mirror, seeing how I looked with the dress on. It made my features stand out. The green irises and blue hair made my appearance melt into the yellow dress like a clear lake would be. The sun shining along the crystal still water. The sleeves of the dress reached down to my wrists and the sleeves were flared out. My eyes worked down to see the dress pool at my feet like honeydew on a summers day.
