Jadina 'Jade' Celeste Maxwell was enjoying her last few minutes of relaxation for a pretty long time. The only thing was, that she didn't know it.
She was sitting on a swing in the first floor balcony of her mansion, basking in the amazing, cool, air, and had her eyes fixed on the horizon; waiting for the moment when the star that had given them life for so many millennia lit up, signifying the beginning of a new day.
Around her, birds chirped. Lush green grass shimmered with dew. The tall trees around her rustled in the cool air.
As for Jade, she just sat there, sipping a glass of water, a contented smile making its way across her stunning face.
Having finished her glass of water, Jade wanted to get up and get more, but something held her back. And she knew only too well what it was. The sky was just too bewitching for her to take her eyes of it. So was everything else around her.
Nevertheless, she got up.
But not to get water.
She opened her TeleAccount, and went to Artemis Maxwell's profile.
'I am going for a walk,' she told her mother. 'Be back in an hour or so.' Her mother was still asleep; she never woke up this early, but she would see the message when she got up.
'Not so fast, young lady,' a voice said behind her.
Jade spun around.
Artemis Maxwell—her mother stood there, fully dressed, glaring at her youngest daughter.
'You're not going anywhere.'
'And why not?' Jade said, looking straight into her mother's eyes. Jade never allowed herself to be intimidated by anyone, not even her mother. Instead, she was the one who intimidated others.
'I have business to attend to. Adonis was supposed to come too, but I think he'll sleep in today, he slept really late last night. I cannot leave three sleeping people at home just like that.'
'Why not?'
She and Artemis were now glaring daggers at each other.
'You'll do what I tell you to!' she said.
Jade opened her mouth to argue, but Artemis beat her into it, saying. 'I'm leaving. Take care of Adonis and Aurora and Diana.'
Jade continued to glare as her mother teleported out of the house and off to who- knew- where.
Jade sat down on the chair, thinking what she could do next.
Something suspicious was going on here. Her mother never went out this early. She should know. She had always been the first to wake up in the household. The last time her mother had gone out this early in the morning was years ago.
She returned to the balcony. She watched the sun as it's rays shone over the city of San Francisco , making it look like the most beautiful thing in the world.
I wish Ravensville were visible from here, too. Well, it would have been if it were in the Pacific, she thought to herself as she tried to come up with a solution.
Then, all of a sudden, it came to her.
She quickly ran to the third floor of her house. This was the smallest floor in the mansion; not even half the area of the other floors.
