'No excuses, Jade. You cannot go!'

'Why not? I have been selected by the prophecy. I am responsible. I can take care of myself.'

'Right, the way you left your father and sisters sleeping at home and followed me to the meeting is the perfect example of your responsibility, isn't it, Jade?'

'Well, I have every right to go! I am not a child, mom, I am seventeen!'

'Yes, but for us, you are still a child. We want to keep you safe! You heard Azarea, that quest is dangerous; you could die!'

'So let me die! It is my planet, and I want to save it; just as much as I want to save Earth! Genesis may not be my home, but it is still the planet of my origin! Speaking of which, may I know why you even bother to tell me, or my sisters about Genesis, and the fact that we are Genetians?'

'We wanted to keep you safe. We thought that, the farther you stay from it, the better it is for you.'

'Well then, you were wrong—'

'She is right, Jade.'

Jade looked at the person who had spoken. He was tall, with light brown hair, and green eyes, like Jade. Adonis Maxwell, Jade's father.

'It is safe for you on Earth, especially in these times. But out there in the Universe...there are some things which are terribly unsafe. We want to protect you from them. We can't let you guys be exposed to such danger. Hence, it is better if you just stay here and not worry about the rest of the Universe. We cannot grant you permission to go on this quest—'

'I am not a child anymore, dad, I am seventeen. I can take care of myself. I am grown up. I deserve to explore the universe, and I really don't want to be ignorant, unlike you, who let your own selfish needs overrule the good of humanity! You guys disgust me!'

And saying that, she walked up to her room.

It was night. Jade lay in her bed, anger filling every ounce of her body.

She hated her parents like never before. How selfish could they be? Not letting Jade go on a quest to save her planet just because they wanted to 'keep her safe'? Why didn't they understand that she was a grownup now; she had a right to her own life!

She sat up in bed. She was going to go on this quest—and she would make sure of that.

She got up. She had something in mind.

She signed out of her own TeleAccount, and signed into her mom's, just like she had done in the morning. Once she was in, she found the 'messages' box at the top.

She opened the box. It was flooded with new messages from the past few days; which her mom, for some reason, hadn't checked. On the left of all these messages, was the 'Send' button. Just as she was about to click it, something in the messages caught her eye.

There was a message from Genesis.

Curiosity got the better of Jade. She opened the message. It read:

Dear Ms. Artemis Maxwell,

Please find attached the consent form for your daughter Jade to be allowed to go on the quest to find the weapon. We request you to sign the consent form, so that we can begin the proceedings to start the quest immediately. Please note, that the future of our planet is in yours and your daughter's hands.

Yours sincerely, Azarea Nichelle, Head of Genesis headquarters
