Chapter 12 : End of tech expo

Marcus has just completed his project , all that he was waiting was a mouse which his father has somehow arranged for him the next morning . Now Marcus just took a pack of cigarettes which he purchased from a nearby pan wala and installed it in a box . Now he released mouse in it . He also installed a small web cam in it to monitor the movements of mouse in it . While all this going on one side , suddenly Marcus heard a knock at his door . He just opened his door and was surprised to see a pretty girl standing at the door . For a moment Marcus didn't understand what was happening, but in a few seconds he got normal again and asked her who she was ,for which the girl replied , hello Marcus I am Daisy form electronics section b , i am the 3rd member of your team assigned by Philip . For this Marcus became little suspicious as Philip never told him about the 3rd member of team , yes he knew that there will be a 3rd member but he expected Philip to inform him before joining a new member in team . This is true that Marcus has solely finished the entire project but as the rules say to have a team he need to maintain one by default . Basically Marcus was an introvert who speaks less with people but now he has no choice but to maintain a team as per rules . He was also suspicious because there will be some students who don't work hard till the deadline but at end they join in some best team for sake of survival and save themselves from punishment and all . But now all that he can do is just to accept her , but before saying yes he checked once the class attendance register that was in pdf format on his phone , to confirm whether there is really a girl named daisy in his class or not . After checking register he understood that daisy was saying truth and he accepted her in team . He explained her everything about the project and was now ready to face the tech expo . But on other side daisy's intention was not only win in tech expo but also to win Marcus's heart at any cost . She started asking him about his personal experience in college and also about his personal life . Being an introvert Marcus was little shy in answering the questions as he doesn't know still much about daisy . He didn't ask anything about her . Later they went inside the forge and to monitor their project . After sometime daisy left to her home . That very evening Marcus packed up his project and bid good bye to his father and left for the hostel .

The next day was the tech expo , Marcus took his project in his hand and went to the University . He saw his university well decorated and a big banner on which it's mentioned " WELCOME TO TECH EXPO " . The separate cabins were allocated for people to place their projects and to explain when higher officials arrive to their cabin . There are somany students who made varieties of projects but they are small in size as compared to the size of Marcus's project . There were also food stalls installed in University for students and for faculty members to have their meals and snacks . Our hero and his team arrived at their cabin and got ready wearing their aprons . Meanwhile they also started observing other projects form their cabin . Some students even made a small electronic Mobile type instruments and some made a destructive instrument like teaser gun . Philip After seeing this got shocked and told Marcus " hey bro , I don't think we can win in today's competition look there what advanced weapons they have ". For this Marcus replied to him with a huge laugh " what they are weapons , if you fear now only then how you will explain when faculty arrive man ...just chill up what we can do , we did it let's leave everything on lord and stay calm . Later after an hour the expo began and faculty members started arriving at each cabin . One student who made teaer gun started explaining " sir this is teaser gun , this when shot at enemy can paralyze the enemy for 5 minutes . This is very helpful for woman who are in a dangerous situation like when attacked by a rapist or some burgler . He also started explaining the mechanism which he used to make it . But hod of electronics department interrupted in between and asked him a question " what if woman don't get a chance to use this gun ? " what if rapist snatch this gun from her and use this on her instead . Do you know what happens in this case ...the rapist can do whatever he want in 5 minutes . For this the student kept his face in pause as he don't have answer for that question . The hod understood this and yelled at him instead of appreciation " you and your dirty invention , throw that in scrap ...useless fellow ". This made that student feel very bad and shameful . Later he monitored some cabins and arrived at Marcus's cabin . Now daisy started to explain , sir this is a box , here there is a mouse in it . As you can see here there is a cigar which has butter applied on it . Mouse are attracted to butter . But when mouse arrives here at the cigar it gets a mild shock which makes it partially paralyze . This creates a fear in it and it never goes near butter again . For this the hod asked a question , what if it again go near cigar ? For which the daisy replied then again it will get a shock and this time a bit more voltage and she also explained the mechanism of the box . This impressed hod a bit as he also had habit of smoking and he is struggling hard to quit it since a year but he failed many times . He asked daisy that whose idea is it . And daisy pointed Marcus . The hod appreciated Marcus and wrote something in his score card and left the cabin . The time passed and the team submitted their projects and left the rooms . They had their lunch in a food stall and left . By evening there was an announcement of scores in university and Marcus team made to a 2 ND position . The team that made a mobile type instrument made to top 1 position . The student who was anchoring announced that the top 3 teams will be given special certificates and rewards by hod of department . And the certificates where rewarded according as per rules . Marcus and his team were so happy as they made to top 2 position . But unfortunately it was the mouse that is the ultimate looser in this battle . It died in next few minutes which surprised Marcus as according to his experiment mouse should not die . But there is nothing he can do except to throw it away in scrap . Daisy also felt very sad as the mouse looked so cute but it died so suddenly . Marcus now took an ironic decision " throw it in a scrap , in science experiments death of specimen or subjects is common " . This shocked the entire team as Marcus replied with a cold heart .
