Chapter 13 : Reward

The next day the scene was entirely different . Marcus asusual woke up early in morning . He started his daily routine like brushing , taking shower etc and got ready for college . Philip after the long experience from tech expo decided to take rest for a day or two . Marcus too want the same but he was very curious about the reaction by his fellow mates . There is an ambitious man in Marcus . Though he is innocent and sensitive in one side , the other side of him reflects the most ambitious man ever . It is true that every man has two sides in him , one reflects the good nature in him and the other reflects the evil nature in him . Everything depends on what a man develops more in him . If he develops all negative qualities then he becomes a negative person and if he develops the positive qualities then he becomes a positive person . The same is with Marcus . He left to college, and to his surprise the block where his department was is very silent . There was pin drop silence everywhere . Somepeople continued to clean everything like stage that were used for tech expo the previous day . Marcus was a bit frustrated because he expected many students to come near him and congratulate him but the scene here was entirely different . There were no one to congratulate him . This made him frustrated and walked quickly inside the campus . But another surprise awaited him . There were students but no one even wished him for his success which he achieved on the previous day . This made him even more irritated . But he controlled himself . He directly went to his seat and placed his heavy bag and sat in a calm way . An hour passed but no faculty arrived in class followed by the noise of the students . The noise was caused as there was busy chit - chat between the classmates discussing about the team that made to the 1st position . This made Marcus very angry , ahh ...what the shit , I worked hard day and night and made to second position but all are talking about the team that made number one position . Ok let them talk but what about me . Who will praise me dammit . Murmuring all this Marcus left the room and stood in corridor . The cold breeze was hitting his face hard . After a few minutes , a boy came to him and said " are you Marcus , the boy from a team who made to top 2 yesterday " . This made Marcus little cool and replied " yes , I am " . Fine the hod is calling you to his cabin you go and meet him immediately , the boy replied . Marcus felt low as he expected the boy to praise him but he came here to pass the orders of hod to him . He arrived at cabin were hod was waiting for him . Good morning sir , Marcus wished him . Good morning Marcus , I called you here for presenting you the reward . The reward that you totally deserve . This made Marcus feel little curious about the reward that hod was going to give him .

The hod ( head of the department) opened an iron rusted case . He opened it and took out an iron ring from it . He passed it to Marcus and said " this is your reward Marcus " . For this Marcus replied " an iron ring sir " I can't understand what's happening . This is not an ordinary ring my boy . You know who gave me this ring , my mentor 20 yrs ago . Do you know who receives this ring ? A student who is strict in academics especially in field of science . 20 years ago when I was a student I used to be very strict in academics , I left so many friends who came in my path that is between me and my target . I continued to work hard and in my point of view iron is the symbol of hard work . Finally when I achieved my target my mentor rewarded me this ring that is of free size . He told me that whenever you feel that you can pass on this ring to anyone you can pass on . Now I am passing this ring to you . And one more thing my boy I am very impressed by the way you handled the situation yesterday hahaha... the mouse scene yesterday, you ! without any hesitation took the decision to throw it away just like a piece of shit . But remember one thing this is only applicable to rats my boy don't try to treat humans and other animals in such a way . You know what differs humans from animals , humanity . Humanity is the divine thing in this world so maintain it , he said . Marcus who was carefully listening to the hod , took the ring and thanked hod for presenting him the ring and tried to leave the room . But the hod stopped him and said " Marcus, your team mate what's her name umm Daisy, she is the daughter of the politician . Because of him only today our university receiving lot of funds . And another thing to be noted is she is the younger sister of Karl . I think you met him earlier . Be careful while dealing with her . This surprised Marcus , as he didn't expect this twist earlier . With so many questions raising in his mind Marcus left the room wearing the ring to his hand and with its case on other .
