“You weren’t there yesterday”, I say
And look up at the sky.
It is clear blue and pale white here and there.
The Sun smiles at me.

“Where?”, you ask instead
In a tone of annoyance.
As if I’m a stranger
Who interrupts your precious time with your lover.

You were sitting up in a chair
I was sitting down on the green grass.
When was the last time
We stood together side by side?

I look away from you
And look up at the sky.
It is clear blue and pale white here and there.
You weren’t there yesterday.
