It was a beautiful sunny day in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Neil, Ryan and Kevin were at the beach. Ryan was in the water searching for treasure, Kevin was combing the beach with a metal detector, and Neil was building beautiful and strangely complex sand castles. It was a pretty busy day at the beach, but they found a quiet area to relax.
"Come on... come on..." Kevin mumbled as he waved his metal detector in the sand.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP BEEP BEEP!
Kevin dropped his metal detector and started digging.
"YES! I'm gonna be rich!" he shouted as he used his hands to uncover his new-found treasure. Neil noticed Kevin digging excitedly and went to see what he was doing.
"Oh, hey Kevin! Looks like you found something!" he said enthusiastically. Kevin nodded in excitement.
"Yeah! I sure hope it's treasure! Maybe gold, or..."
He hit a hard metal box. It was dark green and had scratches and paint chips missing.
"Woah," they both exclaimed. Kevin struggled to remove the box from the sand, but eventually he got it. He brushed it off and admired it before even thinking of opening it.
"It looks ages old" Neil remarked. Kevin nodded.
"Yeah, let's see what's inside," he agreed. He slowly opened the lid, revealing nothing but a piece of paper. They were both a little disappointed, but Kevin picked it up and examined it anyway.
"It looks like... oh! It's a message from the studio!" he exclaimed.
"Wow! what does it say?" Neil replied. Kevin cleared his throat before reading out what was written on the note.
"Dear New Kids on the Rock," he started. Neil and Kevin looked at each other and smiled. Kevin continued.
"We were really impressed with your supernatural horror webisode!" Neil smiled and gave Kevin a thumbs-up.
"...Although, the copious amounts of blood may have been a bit much." They both frowned.
"Oh," Neil said. "Continue..."
"We've received multiple reports on the video which is why we took it down."
"Come on! I worked so hard on that," Neil said, annoyed.
Kevin took a deep breath. "Well, okay, maybe we went a little overboard with the fake blood, don't you think?" he said.
"I guess," Neil agreed. "I just had to find a use for the five gallons of fake blood Ryan bought at that Halloween store last year. Five gallons! Who needs that much fake blood, anyway?"
"Six," Kevin corrected.
Neil repeated. "Six gallons." They both sighed.
"Well, what does the rest of the message say?" Neil asked. Kevin looked back at the note, skimming through and mumbling the words he read.
"Let's see, uh...." he murmured. "Because of this, we urge you three to take a break from filmmaking for three weeks and re-evaluate your skills as script writers."
"Huh," Neil said.
"Also, we're not paying you for that last webisode. Sorry! Love, Plymouth Rock Studios," Kevin finished. He put down the letter and looked at Neil.
"Well, thats okay. We don't need that extra money anyway. Plus, three weeks of vacation! This'll be great." he assured.
"Yeah, you're right," Neil agreed. "Wait, shouldn't we tell Ryan?" They looked over to the ocean and saw Ryan's legs sticking out of the water, revealing the swimming flippers he had on.
"Uh, he looks busy," Kevin said.
"Yeah," Neil agreed. "Well, I'm off to keep building." He looked off into the distance and soluted. "The homeless sand-creatures need me." He walked away back to his sand city. Kevin grabbed his metal detector and stood up, combing the beach a second time.
