as brendan drove he felt his hand move closer and closer to grace's thigh. he couldn't help it but put it there, and when he didn't feel her tense up, he found her asleep.

"we're back at your apartment." brendan whispered, shaking graces thigh softly. she stirred and mumbled some words that brendan didn't understand.

"cmon, let's get up." he said. he got out of the car and opened the passenger door open for grace. he unbuckled the seatbelt and helped her out of the car.

grace slung an arm over brendans shoulder and he helped her walk up to the front door. he knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer.

"i live here stupid." grace mumbled. she opened the front door and brendan helped grace inside.

"do you think you can get upstairs by yourself?" brendan asked. grace nodded her head and let go of brendan, trying to walk on her own. she was so tired that as she walked, she stumbled and started to trip over her own two feet.

brendan grabbed her and picked her up. "which one is your bedroom?"

"the one to the right of the stairs." grace whispered. he climbed up the stairs with grace in his arms and brought her to her bed.

brendan grabbed a random t-shirt and pajama pants from grace's dresser and went over to the bed where grace was sitting.

"stand up. i'll help you get dressed." he said. grace grabbed his hands and stood up. she turned around and pulled her hair out of her way so brendan could unzip the zipper of her dress.

it fell to the floor and brendan put the t-shirt on grace. he helped her into the pajama pants and into bed.

"i'll see you tomorrow night." brendan whispered before leaving her bedroom. he shut the door behind him and was greeted with ella and harley.

"you must be hockey boy. im ella, grace's best friend." ella introduced.

"he has a name, ella. im harley, another one of grace's friends." harley introduced.

"it's good to meet you. i was just bringing her back from dinner. she was really tired." brendan explained.

"okay, well, we got it from here, brendan. see you sometime." ella smiled. brendan walked down the stairs and out of the house to his car. graces friends were definitely protective and were going to need some convincing.

"is that brendan's jersey?" ella asked, coming into graces room. it was the next day and grace was more awake, thanks to skipping her class and sleeping all day.

"yep." grace said. she pulled her hair back into a ponytail, leaving two strands out to frame her face.

"you're going to the game tonight?" ella asked.

"mhm."

"did he ask you to come?" ella questioned.

"no. it's just what you do when you date somebody who's in the sports world. he's playing tonight so i'm going there to support him." grace said.

"alright, but if it turns out bad then don't come home crying to me." ella said before leaving grace's bedroom.

the game was at 7, and the walk to the arena was only about 5 minutes, so grace didn't leave until 6:45.

grace scanned her ticket and made her way over to her front row seat next to the home bench. the players were finishing up their warmups and grace looked for brendan. he skated over to her and she smiled at him.

"im glad you came." brendan yelled loud enough for grace to hear.

"im glad im here." she replied, though her voice was a little quiet. brendan read her lips and smiled.
