"who are you?"

---

"hey, why is the bell ringing earlier than usual today?" asked a girl with bright orange hair, staring at her friends with her green eyes filled with confusion. "i swear there's still a bit more time left until lunch ends."

"yeah, we should hurry so we can find out what this is about. let's go, emma." responded a boy with silky white hair and beautiful blue eyes. he, too, was confused on why the lunch bell had rang early, but he simply smiled at emma to ease her worrying. "ray, aren't you coming?"

ray, a very reserved boy, simply gave a small nod and started walking behind them. "maybe someone is getting adopted or something." he was about to speak once again, but got rudely interrupted by none other than emma. "it can't be, the next shipment was set to be in 2 months, right norman?" the said boy nodded, while he started worrying even more.

the trio made their way inside, and when they did, they all froze in shock.

"alright, everyone! this is sister krone, she is here to help me around the orphanage!" all the children were a bit intimidated by krone's wide smile, but welcomed her none the less. "and.. we have new siblings joining us today! give a warm welcome to carol, (y/n) and noya!" hearing this, everyone started cheering for them, they were so happy to have new siblings. sure, some were confused on why they got here so suddenly, and why (y/n) and noya were so old. usually, if they get new siblings, they are babies, like carol.

noya seemed to be enjoying all this sudden attention he was receiving. he gave everyone a warm smile, but didn't say anything. (y/n), on the other hand, stayed emotionless. no one was able to read her, so some of the kids were also a bit intimidated by her. they were both wearing the same outfit. long black pants, a white long sleeved button up shirt, and a black tie.

the trio was in shock. they couldn't believe that they had new siblings, specially that they're old. they were also scared, not just because they had another adult in the orphanage, but because the new brother and sister were most likely to be spies.

---

while everyone was asleep, ray, emma, and norman stayed awake, talking in the library about the events that had occurred earlier today.

"another adult.. i bet mom brought her so she spies on us! do you think she knows it was us?" emma said, worry evident on her face. norman was quick to respond, "no, i don't think she knows it was us. maybe that's why she brought sister krone, to see if maybe she could find out who it was." this calmed emma slightly, but was still very confused. not about sister krone, but about her new brother and sister.

"what about (y/n) and noya? who are they? why are they here so suddenly as well?" well, there goes norman's attempts into trying to calm her down. " i think-" he quickly paused his sentence, turning around to the sound of foot steps outside the library. emma was scared and hid behind norman slightly. although, ray seemed lost in his thoughts once again, not noticing the door opening.

"hey, why are you three still up?"

it sounded more of a demand than a question. ray looked up from his hands, which he hadn't noticed were fidgeting, and saw who the voice belonged to.

(y/n) was standing at the doorway, waiting for an answer impatiently.

they all stayed quiet, not knowing how to respond to their question. norman started walking slowly towards (y/n) and stopped in front of her. he looked at her in the eyes, noticing how they were cold and unreadable. he is usually good at reading people, noting how they're feeling and what their intentions are, but he was frustrated and a bit scared at the fact that he couldn't. read her. emma was looking at both of them, wondering what was norman doing.

"sorry, we were just talking but we'll be heading back now" norman said, trying to act calm and composed. in reality, he was scared shitless. not because of (y/n)'s cold demeanor, but because she could've heard about what they were talking about. and it it's true, that she is a spy, she could have all of them shipped out in no time.

(y/n) moved to the side, allowing him to walk out of the library. emma followed behind norman quickly, and ray was about to do the same before he felt something on his shoulder while walking out the door.

"ray."

he looked at her, scared of what was going to happen. wait, was he scared? he didn't know. for some reason, he didn't feel intimidated by her. but he did feel something.

that feeling only got stronger once he looked at her directly in the eyes. what was it that he was feeling?

"i think you should head to Isabella's office before going to bed."

her voice was demanding, harsh, as if she was trying to scare you. but for ray, it was soft. he could tell that it wasn't her natural tone of voice. he looked at her with soft eyes, he nodded and left the library quietly.
