Your pov
I couldn't stop smiling, ever since I proposed to Mal, it's been a few days now and we're heading home today. We just got our bags through security and we we're just waiting to board our flight.
We stopped to get some coffee at Starbucks first. We we're waiting in line when I get a phone call. It was from my old Sargent. I answer It and put to my ear.
"Sargent Barnes?" I ask
"Y/n! I saw your proposal, I just wanted to congratulate you" he says
"Thank you! I really appreciate It." I replay back as we move up a bit to keep the line going.
"I also have some concerning news." He says breaking the silence after a few seconds.
"What is It?" I say
"Carlo's brother somehow made It into the States. We aren't sure how he slipped through." He says
"Where we he spotted?" I ask
"California." He says
"Barnes my family is in California!" I say a little to loudly and Mal turns to look at me.
"We're aware and we are sending police to your family's house to make sure they stay safe. I'm more worried about your safety though." He says
"I'll call my parents and let them know so they don't get freaked out. Remove them from the home if you need too." I say
"We will. In the meantime you need to be very careful." He says
"I will be."I say
I will keep you posted if anything else happens. As soon as I hear anything. He says
"Thank you." I say
"Stay Safe y/n." He says
"You too." I say before hanging up and putting my phone in my pocket.
"What Is It?" asks Mal
"I'll tell you when we go sit down." I say softly and wrap my arms around her.
We wait in line until it's our time to order. We both get our favorites drinks before heading to our terminal to wait for our flight. I was kinda hoping Mal would forget about the phone call but she mentioned It pretty much instantly.
"Who was that on the phone?" She asks
I sigh and look down at my drink.
"It was my old Sargent, he called to congratulate our engagement and he also told me that Carlo's brother is in the states. He was spotted in California but he hasn't been seen since." I say
"Babe you're family." She says
"I know they are working on getting police to watch the house and keep them safe." I say
"Is he going to come after us?" She asks
"I hope not, he's been trying to get into the states for months but I feel like he got spotted on purpose." I say looking up at her.
"What do you mean spotted on purpose?" She asks
"I just find It weird he's been in hiding since his brother died. I don't buy that he got sloppy and accidentally got spotted." I say
"Yeah that's definitely weird. Do we need to get security on us like your parents?" She asks
"I think we're okay, I don't think he'll come after us." I say
"Well I don't want you to be alone, if you want to go do something then I'll go with you and if I need to go anywhere you're coming with me. I want someone with you at all times." She says
"I promise I will babe." I say kissing her cheek.
Our conversation gets cut off as our flight gets called. We stand in line and wait for our tickets to get scanned so we can board. Mal picked a window seat and I take the seat next to her. Thankfully the flight wasn't to packed so we had the row to ourselves.
I send a quick text to Chrissy before I turn my phone off for the flight.
Me: call me when your flight lands please.
We watch one of the movies available on the little tv screen and Mal ends up falling asleep. I hold her protectively. I wasn't paying attention to the movie.
I won't lie and say that I'm not afraid. I could care less if anything happens to me. It's my family and friends that I'm worried about. What if I just put a huge target on Mal for proposing to her in front of millions of people? I'll do everything I can to protect her.
The pilots voice comes over the intercom letting us know we we're close to landing. It also woke Mal up.
"Good morning sleepyhead" I say chuckling
"Shut up" she says playfully and rubs her eyes.
Our flight lands and we wait until it's our time to leave, we head straight to security and then to baggage claim. We get into our Uber and head home. It was already pretty late in the afternoon.
"How about we order in tonight and go grocery shopping tomorrow?" Asks Mal
"Sounds good to me." I say
We unpacked our bags, Mal hopped in the shower and I ordered some Chinese food for us while I did some laundry. Once Mal was out I checked the time left until our food would get here and decided to take a quick shower so I didn't have to do It later. I got out as our food arrived so I got dressed quickly and joined Mal in the kitchen. We both put a little bit of everything on our plate and we decided to watch Legacies on the couch.

Little bit shorter of a chapter today but i wanted to get this out before the start of the week. It's moving week and I'm working a lot of hours this week as well so if I'm not working I'm packing, so there most likely won't be any updates during the week and possibly the next week after that. I should be able to update more in July and if I do have any downtime or if I finish early I'll try to update as well! Thanks so much for reading!
