It was the first day of the trial. Mal and I flew in yesterday for It and the rest of my family was coming later this week since I didn't have to testify until Wednesday. I still had my arm in a sling from surgery a few weeks ago.

We we're currently at the hotel getting ready. I hear my Apple Watch ding and It was just my alarm to tell us we had to get going.

"Babe we gotta go." I yell from the kitchen while I fill up my water. Mal was in the bathroom and she came out a few seconds later

"Ready when you are."  She says

I grab her bag for her and hand It to her and she takes It from me before grabbing my hand and we head down to the lobby and then to the rental car. I get in the passenger seat and Mal gets in the driver seat and we head to the courthouse. We park and head inside and go through the metal detectors and of course It goes off once I go through so they have to take a bit longer to check me. Which is fine I don't mind It since I'm used to It when we travel.

Once we're both cleared we head to the courtroom and wait for the case to be called. Once we're allowed to go in we sit in the back.

Mal's pov

We we're sitting in the courtroom and I could tell y/n was angry and was trying her hardest to stay calm. I reach over and grab  her hand softly. She looks away from the front of the room and over at me giving me a soft smile and squeezing my hand, probably in a way of letting me know that she's okay.

The judge eventually calls recess for lunch so we have an hour before we go back. We ended up going to this pizza place not far from the courthouse. Since we didn't have to much time we decided to share a pizza and get something after.

Y/n had barely said anything at this point. I don't think she was as prepared and ready as she thought she was so I'm really glad that I came here with her. She tried to convince me to stay home because I have a game on Saturday but I insisted on coming with her since her family wouldn't be here until Wednesday. I could tell her mind was racing with thoughts.

We we're back at the courthouse by now, just parked in one of the parking spots. We still had about 10 minutes before we needed to head back inside. I decided to break the silence.

"Are you okay?" I ask

I already knew she was gonna say yeah and act all strong like nothing is going on.

"Yeah I'm okay. This just brought up a lot of memories and I thought I had prepared myself enough for It but It turns out I didn't. She says

"Stuff you tried to block out the last 4 1/2 years I get It. I'm so proud of you for  going through with this.  I can't imagine the pain you're feeling." I say grabbing her hand.

"Hopefully after this trial, I'll be able to fully move on. Or try to move on, knowing he will be rotting in jail for the rest of his life. I wouldn't mind the death penalty either after all the lives he got killed." She says

"Yeah after what he did I would think he would either get the death penalty or life in prison. If he doesn't I'll be shocked."I say

"If he gets out at any point I'll be the one going
To jail for killing him." She says

I could tell she was being 100% serious. Which made me a bit nervous because I don't want to loose her and I sure as hell don't want her to go to jail for the rest of her life. Maybe she's just angry still and hopefully after this she will get the peace and closure she needs to let go and move on.

*skipping to Tuesday night*
Your pov

My family just flew in for trial tomorrow. It's also the day that Barnes and I testify against him. I also think this could be the last day of trial, or I'm hoping that It is because I'm tired of being so angry, I think that's what I feel the most. Makes me want to hop the bench and kill him myself. I know I wouldn't make It to him but I'd sure as hell try too.
