Location: N.E.S.T Base- Planet Earth

Optimus watched as Jazz instructed and oversaw the humans as they typed away at their computers. As expected, the Autobots had gotten the ‘go ahead’ to reach out to the A.R.K, and now it was just a matter of sending the signal out and getting the connection to the ship.

“So uh…” Optimus looked at the balcony where Will Lennox and Robert Epps stood, “you’ve got a kid.” The Major stated as he shuffled on his feet. It was odd enough finding out that Ironhide and Ratchet (of all bots!) were fathers, but now Optimus was a dad as well? Like…woah…

Aaaand then there was the revelation that giant, alien robots ‘bumped uglies’ in a similar fashion to humans.

Double woah.

Optimus, sensing Will’s confusion, smiled sadly, “Elita had just past her second meta-cycle carrying phase when I left for this planet.”

Epps furrowed his brow in concentration, “Meta-cycle…that’s…”

“Approximately thirteen of your Earth months.” Ratchet supplied.

“But Optimus said two meta-cycles, so she was…twenty-six months-”

“Twenty-eight to be specific.” Optimus corrected.

“And how long are y’all’s gestation periods again?” Epps asked.

“About sixty-five months.” Came Ratchet’s answer.

Will and Epps proceeded to share stunned expressions. ‘Wow!’ The Major mouthed.

Before anyone else could ask any more questions, the fifty-five by forty-foot theater screen flashed on. “We’re live!” one of the technicians announced.

Everyone turned their attention to the fifty-five by forty-foot theater screen, only to see bored looking red and black mech sitting at the communication’s consol.

At this, Jazz stepped forward and spoke in his native language, “This Lieutenant Jazz from the Autobot base of Earth. Are we coming in clear Sides?”

Without lifting his chin from his hand, Sideswipe droned out, “This is Sideswipe from the A.R.K ship, I hear ya loud and clear.” He leaned back and looked at something offscreen, “Prrrroooooowl!”

To the humans, the call sounded like one big screech…big enough to make those present cringe and cover their ears in protection. The Autobots however, heard and understood the annoying demand and waited patiently for the mech to show up on screen.

It didn’t take long for the second-in-command to appear on screen. “Must you screech like that?!” he demanded in annoyance, “Move! Go do something else!” he waved his hand in a ‘get away’ motion, effectively chasing off the younger mech.

Jazz smirked as he watched Prowl compose himself, “The mechs still giving ya a hard time?”

Prowl shook his head with an optic roll, “When we get to Earth, they’ll be your problem.” He hissed, “They like you better. One doesn’t have to wonder why.” He muttered the last part to himself.

Optimus took that moment to step closer, clearing his vocal processor as he did.

Immediately, Prowl’s demeanor changed, and he went as far as to rise out of his chair to salute his leader. “Optimus Prime! Sir!”
