"Aww..well, you see..." Mrs. Masa couldn't find the name she could use to address the young engineer.

"Vee Vivis, apologies for my late introduction, Ma'am."

"Oh yes. You see Vee, Leyla, here is our son's girlfriend and..."

"Can you take an omega's heat?" Vee bluntly asked towards Leyla.

The woman got flustered. "Yes!! I can help Mark." She replied but Vee could tell that the woman was not confident.

"You can't."

"Do you think he will just accept you when even before this happened, he was already avoiding you?"

Leyla didn't want to back down. Her heart wanted to fight.

"I'll prove myself."

"I'm Mark's girlfriend. Even if you are an alpha, I won't hand him over. Mark is not someone you can just control because of this second gender."

Vee smiled. "That's funny. Who said that I'll be controlling him? It's the opposite actually. He has been controlling me since I met him."

Listening to the heated argument, Mrs. Masa decided to cut them off. "Stop this already. It's been a long night. Leyla, you can go home for now. Or you could stay in the guest room if you want. And Vee..."

"I'll stay with Mark please. I will help him stabilize and get accustomed to his new disposition."

"That's a nice idea but I can't let you stay, gentleman." Mr. Masa said.

Mrs. Masa would have answered but her husband was faster.

Vee's face showed disappointment with a frown landing on his lips.

"You are in a rut, I guess?" Mr. Masa asked.

The young lad felt embarrassed and ashamed.

"I can tell because you have been very anxious since earlier and you are already struggling to suppress your instinct. I have seen many of my alpha colleagues and friends act like a mad man during their rut. Take a rest. Let it fade and subside."

Vee couldn't disagree. In the end, he yielded and obeyed Mr. Masa's advise.

"What do we do now, honey? Mark...can he take these changes?"

"We'll help him and maybe, we could tell him the truth as well."

The couple had an agreement and ended that chaotic night while thinking the best for their son.

After three days, Mark has finally stabilized. His parents already told him what happened. Mark was definitely shocked and he was just silent all along upon learning the truth.

"Mark, do you feel well now?" James visited him to hand over their subject materials and laboratory works.

"James, how should I leave now? I need to be extra wary everytime I walk around because society is very hard on omegas. I need to face those malicious eyes due to my second gender change. But, how should I live with that from now on?"

James felt sad for his best friend. "I know this would be hard but we are still here for you. Mark is still Mark. We are your friends that won't let you down." He could only give his assurance to his friend but he knew that it would be difficult to adjust, indeed.

Mark looked at his friend with empty eyes. "Do I still deserve Leyla?"

This question broke James' heart.
