Pov: Seraphina Angela

"Let's get going," Leo says as he locks his door behind him. I smile to myself as we walk down the hallway together, I don't know where this thing with Leo is going to go or what it even is but I want to hold on to it.

That's when his phone begins to ring, he moves his hand to my waist while he picks it up, and we coincidentally stop right in front of Vince's front door since we were heading to the main hallway.

"Excuse me for a minute, bellissima," he informs me and heads in the opposite direction with a nod.

I wait patiently in the hallway and decide to check my phone until then. Oh hell no, I internally groan when I see the notification of a missing text from my father. What does he want now?

Lucca Angela: We're meeting on Monday afternoon, August 23, for a quick meeting. No debates or arguments, you're going to be there.

Me: What is this meeting for?

Lucca Angela: You'll know once you show up, and come without your weapons. I just want to talk, figlia [daughter].

Me: I assume I'll have to show up alone? And give me one reason as to why I should trust you since you hid one of the biggest things from me, your own daughter.

Lucca Angela: Well, having you as my daughter wasn't my damn choice. I blame your mom for that.

Lucca Angela: Drop the attitude, Seraphina, and show the fuck up. Don't make me drag you there.

I wasn't going to say the superabundance of curses in my mind, I wasn't going to say I hated him, I wasn't going to tell him how much he hurt me the second he said that I wasn't his choice. I simply left him on read and gave him the benefit of the doubt.

I ignore the sinking feeling in my chest and envelop my arms around my waist, trying to ground myself in the self-pity I'm internally drowning in.

That's when I hear a crashing noise, coming from inside our- no, his, room.

My eyebrows pull together and confusion strikes me in my gut, the noise was followed by one more until the crashing was silenced by his loud laughter, what the hell is going on in there?

I bury everything I was feeling deep within my chest and take a deep breath, I take a few steps up till my hand is placed flat on the door, I slowly push it open to reveal an empty room.

I look down in a haze to see glass pieces shattered everywhere, they were broken pieces of a wine glass.

I take careful steps to track the smashed pieces that were scattered all across the marble floor, the clicking of my heels reverberating in the eerily quiet room and the sound of my heartbeat pounding in my ears.
