School can be a death trap. Especially when the lunch ladies are really 3 evil witches and an evil unicorn tries to attack you when you eat a carrot. My name is Mikey Jenkins. I go to a school called Yew Trunk Middle School. This school is deffinately not normal and I found this out when me and my best friend Penelope Cruisely found a mermaid in the swimming pool. Well right now I guess your pretty confused so why don't I tell you how all this psychoticness started.

I woke up in the morning excited, because today was the first day of junior high. I walked to my closet got a white shirt, grey shorts, and my black shoes. I looked in the mirror with my brown eyes, fixed my dark brown hair, and brushed my braces covered teeth. I walked out the door waving bye to my mom and dad and began the short walk to school. On the way I noticed that things seemed odd. I felt like someone or... something was following me. I turned around just in time to be tackled. I screamed. I opened my eyes only to realize that it was my best friend penelope. She had her black hair tied up ina ponytail with a red ribbon, she wore a white blouse, with a baby blue skirt, and a black belt. Her eyes were green and I was absolutely relieved that they weren't the eyes of some blood sucking beast.

"Ha ha gotch ya." she chuckled.

     "Not funny." I snapped

"Was too." she replied still chuckling. We continued walking until we finally got to our new school. Yew Trunk middle school.

"Do you know how they got the name?" she asked. I shook my head no.

"It's from a legend, she began, that this place was a simple house. Then due to the growth of man all the mythical creatures in the world began to die. They came here for refuge, but people wanted them dead. So a powerful witch and a brave knight sacrificed themselves to create a simple yew seed. This seed however grew at an incredibly fast rate and became a yew tree in seconds. There was a charm that caused the people to forget everything about the creatures." she finished.

"Epic." I whispered. As we were walking towards the front door the security guard glared at me. I looked at him and his rottwieler began to growl. We then quickened our pace. We went inside, got our schedules, and were happy that we had everyclass together. When we found our lockers we put everything in their that we didn't need for science. When we got in the classroom it was so dark you could barely see. I tripped over a trash can and was prepared to land flat on my face. But before I could something stopped me. Then I was raised back to my feet as if being helped by an invisible force. I looked in front of me to see the man who was apparently our science teacher. He was old and when I say old I mean Dumbledore's great great grandpa old. His face was covered with wrinkles and his white beard almost touched the floor. He was wearing a white button up shirt, a purple tie covered in silver moons and stars, black pants, and his shoes that looked like they belonged to one of santa's elves. He glared at me with his eyes squinting.

"Get used to the darkness my boy." he said in a rhaspy voice. Penelope and I sat down in our seats. Next to the tanks of frogs, fish and other animals science teachers like to have.

"What's his problem?"she asked. I shrugged and began to look at the frogs. Then I thought I saw one of them talk.

It said," help me." in a croaky voice. I stared with my mouth open and quickly looked away.

     "What's wrong?" Penelope asked.

"Nothing." I replied quickly. The class was mainly the science teacher introducing himself. His name was Mr. Zard. When the bell rang we tried to find the gym for P.E. We walked around aimlessley and found a couple of double doors. We walked through the doors to find an old swimming pool. The wierd part was that the pool was eminating a strange light. We walked close to the pools edge curious about the light. There was a woman swimming in the pool, but she was definately not normal. She had a fish tail! As we continued to look we saw that her tail was where her legs should be, she had normal brown skin, was wearing an orange bikini top, and had a perm. Once she opened her eyes and saw us she looked mad.

"Get out, get out!" she screamed and raised her hands above her head. They glowed a bright green and a wave formed from the pool and charged straight towards us. We ran outside and closed the doors. Water began to leak out from under and we began to slip. Then a man dressed in shorts, and a blue shirt, he had a pair of sunglasses covering his eyes, and his baseball cap showed that he was a Dodgers fan.

"What are you doing out here!' he roared.

     "Uh-uh-uh." I stammered.

"We were trying to find the gym for P.E." Penelope said. The man raised his eyebrow, yes he had a unibrow and gestured for us to follow him.

"I am coach Clops. he said. We did so and he lead us into a gym where kids were playing dodgeball. We stared and he pointed for us to go to one side. We did so and began to play the game that is until the ball popped after some kid threw it too hard. We couldn't find any spares so I walked into the room he had and saw something crazy. Coach Clops had his sunglasses on his desk and he was rubbing his eye! Not eyes eye! It wasn't even like he was missing one either he just had one sitting in the middle of his forehead.

When he saw me he roared," What are you doing!"

I sat and stammered until I yelled," What the hell!" He roare again and pulled a baseball bat from a nearby basket. He began to chase me with it. I ran out of the room and was heading for the glass doors that lead outside.

     "What's going on!" Penelope yelled.

"Can't talk just run!" I yelled as I grabbed her arm and made her run with me. Coach Clops was still chasing us.

Penelope looked back and screamed," What the hell!" I lead her outside and we ran into the woods behind the school. Little did we know that the woods would be the place our lives changed forever.
