𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐀 𝐒𝐋𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐃 𝐀 yet another branch out of her face. Night was falling over Neverland and she had not found her way back to camp yet. She yelped as her heeled boots caught in a branch. In hindsight, maybe her boots weren't the best for treading around the jungle with, but it's all she could find. She had stolen them from the person she fed off of.
She pushed the dirt off of her body, spitting out chunks of grass and leaves.
"Well, that's certainly not the grace I remember you having, mother." Selena snapped her neck up and found her daughter standing in front of her with a smirk. Selena used to speed to stand up and grabbed out to her.
Katerina evaporated into thin wisps, reappearing behind her mother. "Don't even try it." She spat through gritted teeth. "I'm not here to make up for lost time, mumsy."
Selena felt her heart drop to the pit of her stomach. Her daughter wanted nothing to do with her and she would be lying if she said it didn't hurt her. "Then why are you here, Katerina?"
She tilted her head with a shrug. "To give you a one-way ticket out of here. Free of charge." She added with a wink.
Selena parted her lips, surprised at her daughter's words. Why was she letting her go so easily? Not that she would take the offer without Katerina going with her. "What is the catch? There is always a catch."
Katerina felt her smirk creeping up into her right cheek. She pointed at Selena. "Smart, you are. I want you to bring me Emma's heart." She said the words so casually it had Selena's eyes bulging out of her head.
Selena gasped and stepped away. "Wha. . . Katerina. . ." She couldn't believe the monster in front of her was once her sweet little angel. The person standing in front of her was deranged and manic.
She stepped closer to her mother. "Why so scared, mother? I need it." Katerina liked watching her mother shrink back into the tree, she loved watching people cower as she walked towards them. "I thought this was your job. To get the things I need." She pouted her bottom lip out.
Selena felt her back press against the bark, her fingers digging into the flaky wood. "Why do you need it?"
"That's for me to know and you to find out." She shrugged turning away from Selena. "You get me her heart and you can leave."
Selena mustered up her courage, stepping forward. "What if I said I'm not leaving without you, Katerina. I am your mother and you are coming with me whether you like it or not."
Katerina turned on her heel. "Take me then." She held out her wrists, "See what happens when he finds out." She narrowed her eyes with a small smile. "I want you to know, mother, he lets me have no say in what happens to those that try to kidnap me." She turns back towards Selena, the branches and leave crunching under her feet. "So, I implore you to try, but you may not make it out alive."
Selena glanced uneasily down at her daughter. What became of her precious angel? What happened to her Kat?
"Now goodbye." She turned away, skipping back into the tree line. Selena chased after her, grabbing her wrist. Katerina disappeared and snapped her mother's neck. She knew the woman would wake up in an hour or two, so she left her in the dirt. "I said goodbye."
She headed the opposite way when she felt a dagger run through her abdomen. She gasped looking into the eyes of her attacker. Regina. "I will find my son."
"He will kill you before you get within a hundred miles of him." Katerina spat as Regina twisted the dagger inside of her. She let out a scream, the birds inside of the trees flapping away at the frightening sound. Blood coated the front of her white blouse. Regina's first mistake was to let the blood be visible. She had doomed them all.
The ground shook under the Evil Queen as she used her magic to pick up Katerina after knocking her unconscious. The island and all of the animal inhabitants knew he was furious. The insects hid inside the trees and the large predators hid inside the darkest parts of the caves. The small prey hid in every look and cranny that could be found. They knew he would come looking and would stop at nothing to get her back. The mermaids swam away from the island, trying to get as far away as possible for they knew as well what would happen.
He would tear apart the island and rip the trees up from the ground to find her. He would steal the water from the sea surrounding Neverland. Pan would venture to the Underworld if that meant he could have Katerina. Nothing would stop him from retrieving his queen.
Regina did not know it, but she had just changed the game for everyone. He would no longer go easy on them.
In camp, Pan threw the flute to the ground, smashing the bamboo object into thousands of pieces to be swallowed home by the debris underneath his feet. Across the fire, Felix stood to his feet and rushed over to his leader.
Pan tugged at his hair as he threw the crossbow across the camp. Luckily enough, Henry had yet to notice, along with the other lost boys. "What happened?" Felix asked as Pan gripped the tree bark hard enough to draw deep crimson blood.
"Round up the boys," He swallowed thickly, trying to contain his anger. "They took Katerina." He said, looking over his shoulder and straight into Felix's tense gaze.
