I tossed and turned in my bed until dawn came. I really liked the name dawn. My grandma's name. She gave me her nickname Lilica, so I would always have a piece of her with me. No, she is not dead. She thought she would die before I was born and now I'm 17 but she is still as healthy as ever. Way to go grandma.
After stretching again in my bed, I decided it was time to hit the showers. Half an hour later I was ready to go. I was wearing my favorite white trousers with a full sleeve tight purple t-shirt matched with my favorite ankle length white boots. I applied no makeup as it was always my go to look. My hair was up in a ponytail. I didn't quite like my hair. So I always tried to put it up in a bun but most of the time it ain't possible as my hair's really thick and long.
When I reached downstairs I noticed that it was eerily calm. Like a calm before the storm. I brushed it of and went to the kitchen. My mother, Tessa, was standing by the island, hands on her hips, looking outside the window. My mother was a petite women with a really slender frame. Her brunette hair was always messy and uneven.
She didn't notice me when I walked up to her. She looked deep in thought. Nowadays she is extra tired. Her eyes were red and had dark circles covering them. The years gave age lines on her forehead and her once beautiful face was dull with worry.
Then she suddenly turned towards me and smiled. That gentle Mama smile.
"Paige, you are up early today." I wasn't. "I didn't make anything. I only woke up." Clearly she was lying. She looked like she didn't even had one hour of sleep. She also looked like she was in pain."It's okay. I'll buy something on my way."
"I'm so sorry baby. I know I haven't been like myself lately but please try to understand." She sobbed. The tears welled up inside her, flowed freely. It hurts me to see her like that. My throat tightened and my eyes filled with unshed tears. I cleared my throat and nodded at her. I wasn't in the mood to talk about the million problems we currently had. I was preparing to leave when I heard her speak again.
"Wait. I'll go get some money."
"No mom. I got a job yesterday. I got money mom. It's okay." I reassured her. Feeling my throat tighten again. Obviously I was lying. I got no job or money for that matter. But I can't tell her that. She must not feel like she has to look after me too.
"I'll be going now." I gave a small smile that didn't quite reach my eyes.

Outside, my best friend Ellis was waiting for me with her black Sedan. She was looking through her phone. Ellis was hot topic. She had beautiful light blonde waves and chocolate brown eyes. Her plum lips were always a cause of my envy. She had a small frame with a really thin body. Ellis was one of the most beautiful person I've ever met both internally and externally.
When she saw me, her face brightened and she came towards me to give me a bone crushing hug.
"I missed you Paige." She said breaking the hug.
"I only saw you yesterday. You are so dramatic this early in the morning." I said narrowing my gaze at her. How could she? I can barely open my eyes.
