Chapter 4 Season 4: Dear Dad

Wills pov:
We were sat on the couch as this woman tried to explain things to us.
"I'm sorry. I'm having trouble understanding any of this. I mean, what is going on in Hawkins? What's doing these killings? My sister Alex is over there. We need to know if somethings going to happen to her." Jonathan stated. I looked at her.
"He has a point Alex is over there for summer vacation. We know she has powers but she hasn't used them properly." I stated looking at the woman.
"That's what we're trying to ascertain. And I'm sure Alex will be fine if she stays clear of what's happening." The woman stated.
"Are we talking about the same girl here because she goes towards danger. Just like her dad. She don't know how to save herself till she saved others." Jonathan exclaimed.

Normal POV
We were stood in the hallway of the school looking at a wall.
"It was here. Right here." Max stated.
"Yeah I swear boys it was right here." I stated the red head nodded agreeing with me.
"It was so real. And then, when I got closer, suddenly I just..." Max went on.
"Woke up again." I muttered.
"I woke up." Max finished.
"So you went through something similar to me but I actually met Vecna and he's pretty scary." I stated.
"Exactly what Eddie said happened to Chrissy and happened to Alex." Dustin pointed out.
"I could be dead cause both saw him twice and I saw him twice. This is it guys. The day I actually depart from the world." I stated.
"No you won't we won't let you." Steve stated grabbing my shoulders.
"That's not even the bad part. Fred and Chrissy they both came to Miss Kelley for help. Alex went to..." Max went on and she looked at me.
"I went to Miss Brody for help that's the only key difference between all of us. But I saw a picture of Miss Kelly and she has the exact necklace as Miss Brody but her's is a bracelet." I pointed out.
"Uh, they were both were having headaches, bad headaches that wouldn't go away. And then... then the nightmares." Max stated. I started remembering everything that happened at the mall not to long ago. Watching Billy die and having to fight the mind flyer and losing my dad.
"Alex." Steve whispered holding onto my arm slightly.
"Remembering things from last year." I mumbled loud enough for him to hear he pulled me aside slightly.
"Are those your nightmares?" He asked since Max said something about nightmares.
"Watching El almost die is the main thing that keeps popping up." I answered.
"So things from your past do you see it?" Steve asked because of what Max was saying.
"No I don't see things." I answered. I never opened up to anyone after dad Miss Brody only knew details about what happened to my dad.
"Vecna's cure." Robin stated.
"Chrissy's headache started a week ago. Fred's six days ago. I've been having them for five days." Max stated. Everyone looked at me.
"I've had them for about 4 days now." I stated. I looked at Max and nodded.
"We don't know how long we have. All I know is that, for Fred and Chrissy, they both died 24 hours after their first vision. This is Alex's second encounter with him. If she can live through this so can I. And I just saw that goddam clock so..." Max went on.
"It's been about 24 hours for me. It was yester..." I tried.
"Alex." Vecna stated.
"No not this again." I mumbled.
"Are you ready to see Sarah?" He asked.
"Don't you dare say her name." I answered. I prayed the group knew what to do.
Steve's POV:
Max went on about the course.
"...And I just saw that goddam clock so..." Max went on. I looked down at Alex who was stood not to far from me shifting form both feet. I felt bad for the girl I really did.
"It's been about 24 hours for me. It was yester..." Alex trailed on.
"Alex." I stated shaking her shoulders.
"No not yet." Dustin said running towards the girl in front of me.
"Alex come on don't leave us just yet." I stated.
"Steve music." Dustin stated. I had her cassette tape in my back pocket. I quickly rewarded it and Dustin put the headphones onto Alex.
"Come on Alex. This better work." I mumbled playing the music. I don't want to lose her just yet. She's like my little sister the one I never had. Alex managed to come back and she fell into my arms. I just sighed.
"Are you okay?" I mumbled into her hair.
"I think so." Alex mumbled.
"Steve you can let go now." Dustin mumbled after a bit.
"Give me a minute to hold my girl." I whispered.
Normal pov
I ran towards where the hole was trying to get back to the boys.
"Alex don't run from me." I heard Vecna yell.
"Im trying to run as fast as I can." I mumbled. I got to the hole and managed to get out. I fell into Steve's arms.
"Are you okay?" Steve mumbled into my hair.
"I think so." I mumbled. We got up. We were stood round the table. There was a distant clang.
"Shit." I mumbled walking towards the door.
"Stay here. Alex stay behind me and I know you won't listen if I tell you to stay here." Steve stated.
"I'm a Hopper so I never listen." I pointed out. Steve followed me out. Just before he grabbed a lamp.
"Alex you should go back. This could be dangerous." Steve stated as we walked out.
"Steve I fought the Demogorgan 3 times and managed to get out alive. And I've faced Vecna three times in 24 hours and I'm still alive. When I'm supposed to be dead." I stated. We walked to where the noise was. I put my hand up in defence in case I needed to use my powers. I screamed as Lucas turned the corner. Everyone else followed in my suite.
"Shit." I screamed.
"It's me." Lucas stated.
"Lucas?" Nancy asked.
"It's me." He stated again.
"Jesus what's wrong with you?" Steve asked.
"I'm sorry." Lucas tried.
"I could've taken you out with this lamp! And Alex could've had you with her powers." Steve yelled.
"Sorry guys, sorry. I was... I was biking for eight miles. Give me a second. Shit. We've got a code red." Lucas stated.
"What code red?" I asked.
"Dustin. I've been with Jason, Patrick, and Andy, and they've gone totally off the rails. They're trying to capture Eddie, they think you know where he is. You're in terrible danger." Lucas stated.
"All right yeah that definitely sucks, but we've got bigger problems then Jason right now." Dustin said looking at me and Max. I drifted back to max firming when Lucas was talking. We were gripping each other's hand slightly. Lucas looked at me but I ignored him as hes been ignoring me since I got back. We're sat in Mike's basement. I've been writing letters next to max she was doing the same. I looked down at the name I couldn't bring myself to finish writing. Sarah. I knew had to finish writing it. I looked back to Nancy and Robin but looked back to where I was writing. I looked at Max and she nodded. I knew what she was thinking we both were thinking the same thing. I put all the letters into the right envelopes with the correct names on. I looked at Lucas's and Sarah's. I wrote Sarah onto the envelope.
"If you wanna talk to us just say so. And we can tell your staring idiots." I stated turning around.
"What sorry?" Steve asked.
"Don't play dumb Harrington." I stated
"You said you needed something?" Dustin asked.
"Just hanging out." Steve stayed trying to cover it up.
"How do you think your eyes boring into the back of our heads is protecting us from Vecna I don't know." Max said as I was walking up to them Max behind me. "You can look at us now."
"Thank you sorry." Dustin said. The boys said sorry I just looked at them.
"For you." Max said next to me handing one to Dustin.
"Here Harrington don't say I don't care because I do." I said handing him a letter.
"For you." Max said as she gave a letter to Steve and Lucas as I gave one to Dustin.
"And um you." I stated hanging Lucas one as well. "Oh and um give these to Robin, Nancy, Mike, El, Will, and Joyce please." I stated as I gave mine to Lucas Max handed hers to Dustin.
"I have one for Will El and Mike." Max said. "If you can ever get a hold of them again."
"Boys no. No opening till something actually happens. I know I don't have very long at ditching Vecna and Max should be meeting him soon no offence Max." I stated.
"None taken." Max said.
"Don't... okay." Dustin stated putting both letters back in. "I'm sorry what is this?"
"It's... um... it's a feel safe." Max started. I knew she didn't want to continue.
"For after. If things don't work out for us two." I stated looking down. I felt Lucas's eyes on me.
"Wait whoa. Alex, Max, things are going to work out." Lucas tried.
"No Lucas don't you dear say things are going to work out. I've met him three times almost died three times that isn't a good thing. And my dad always said it was hard to kill a Hopper but it sure as hell looks like I'm gonna die this time tomorrow. No, we don't need you to reassure us and tell us it's all going to work out. Because people have been telling me that my entire life and it's never normally true in my case. It's never true. I mean, of course this asshole curses us. I lost my dad and he thinks it's a good idea to attempt to kill me. Sorry about that Max. Should've seen that coming." I stated Max picks up the radio. Max looks at me. It looks like she has an idea.
"If we go to East Hawkings, will this reach Pennhurst?" Max asked.
"Of course. Yeah." Dustin answered.
"Max what's your idea?" I asked the girl next to me.
"Why are we talking about East Hawkings?" Steve asked. "No. No. No!" Me and Max walked out of Mike's house.
"I'm going with or without you Steve." I stated.
"Hey, Max, Alex. Seriously. Seriously, I'm not joking. I'm not driving you anywhere." Steve tried.
"Steve if you think we're going to spend what is likely our last day of our life in an armpit which is Mike Wheeler's basement, then you're out of your mind. So either take us where we need to go or your gonna have to tie us down, which is technically kidnapping of two minors. And if we live to see another day, Steve, I swear to God, I will prosecute. (tries to open the door) Open the door." Max stated as we got to the car.
"And Steve I may not live here no more but I am still a big influence on the police force so try me." I stated.
"Uh, no." Steve stated.
"I know a good lawyer." Max stated.
"And I know how to argue. Perks of having a chief of police as a dad." I stated. I heard something before I got into the car. I saw the grandfather clock. Steve put his hand on my shoulder.
"Hey Alex is it happening again?" Steve asked.
"Yeah it is." I answered he hugged me slightly.
"Henderson, that super walkie of yours better reach Pennhurst." Steve stated as I got into the car. We drove down to East Hawkings. I was in the middle of Max and Lucas which was awkward for me because of the fact that me and Lucas are not talking. I felt a hand fall into my hand. It was Lucas I looked at him and smiled. I leaned on his shoulder.
"This better be fast, Mayfield." Steve stated.
"Twenty seconds." Max stated as she got out the car.
"That thing's got batteries in it right?" Steve asked.
"I'm not even answering that question." Dustin answered.
"Alex does this thing have batteries?" Steve asked.
"Yes it fucking does." I answered.
"Yeah I got it." Steve stated. Steve drove us to my dad and Billy's grave. Lucas had his hand in mine.
"Turn here." Max stated. She looked at me and I nodded.
"Here?" Dustin asked.
"Yes Dustin here." I answered as Max nodded. Me and Max got out of the car.
"Alex." Lucas tried.
"Lucas please just wait in the car." I answered before walking in a different way to Max.
"Alex, just wait, Alex, please." Lucas begged.
"Lucas, just wait..." I tried.
"Just listen to me. Just please. I know something happened to you that you won't tell me. But you'll tell Steve." Lucas stated.
"Because Steve is like my older brother. So I'm sorry for trusting my brother." I stated.
"Was it Vecna?" Lucas asked me.
"I told you Lucas, I'm fine. Okay? I mean, as fine as someone who's hurtling to a gruesome death, with one of her best friends, can be." I stated looking at him.
"Alex. You know you can talk to me I'm your boyfriend. Right?" Lucas asked.
"Yeah, I know that Lucas." I answered.
"Okay, then why do you keep pushing me away? Okay, look, I don't need a letter. I don't want a letter. Just talk to me. To your friends. We're right here. I'm right here. Okay? I'm here." Lucas stated.
"Just wait in the car. This won't take long. I need time with my dad alone." I stated walking away. I found dad's grave. I opened the letter I write to him.
"Dear Dad, I thought you wouldn't leave me. I don't even know if you can hear this because we both know you're dead. I can't cope without you. It was hard without Sarah. Now it's even harder because you're not here. I moved to California with the Byers and El. El doesn't have her powers back yet. I have them back now. I don't know why you decided to leave us behind. I know you tried to save people and you did. But saving loads of people only hurt the ones who loves you. That makes me sound so selfish but we all miss you loads. I wear your shirts everywhere with me. Because I believe they still smell like you. Like your smell has been imprinted into the clothes. I came back to Hawkings to have a fun summer brake but so far it isn't fun at all. I'm being haunted by some creepy evil fucker. We've got it down to me having PTSD and stuff like that. Me and Lucas are not in a good stage. But that is my fault because I am pushing myself away. I miss you loads. Love you're annoying oldest daughter." I stated.
"ALEX!" Max yelled. I got up and ran towards her. I saw that something was happening.
"Max come on Max don't leave me. Don't die on me yet." I stated. I kept pushig her as Steve came.
"Alex!" Someone stated. It was Max. I saw everything change the sky the lot.
"Max." I yelled running to her.
"Max. I've been waiting to hear those words, Max." Someone stated.
"Alex why didn't you come to me." I heard a little girls voice. It sounded like Sarah.
"Waiting so very long." Billy stated.
"I thought we were close." Sarah stated.
"But it wasn't the full truth, was it, Max? You know, I think there's a part of you, buried somewhere deep, that wanted me to die that day. That was maybe even relieved. Happy." Billy stated.
"Alex, you replaced me with that girl from the lab." Sarah stated.
"No Sarah I would never." I pleaded.
"Billy, no, that's not the true." Max tried.
"That's why you stood there, isn't is, Max? It's okay. You can admit it now. No more lies. No more hiding." Billy stated.
"Billy, that's not true, I swear." Max stated. Sarah looked at me.
"You did Alex, no more hiding from me." Sarah stated.
"Sarah I didn't replace you I promise." I begged.
"I swear it's not true." Max pleaded.
"That's why you feel such guilt. Why you hide from your friends. Why you hide from he world." Billy stated.
"You know I don't blame your friends from pushing you away." Sarah stated.
"Sarah please. (sobs) Don't do this please." I begged.
"You push the world away because you are scared that they are gonna know that you replaced me." Sarah stated. Billy started to talk to Max.
"Sarah please. You were my world you knew this." I sobbed.
"Then why did as soon as El came along you didn't mourn me." Sarah asked.
"I mourned you everyday Sarah." I sobbed.
"I am here to end your suffering." Sarah stated. I got up off the floor.
"No you're not. I'm not ending my story here. I lived through stranger things." I stated walking backwards to Max. Max fell as I ran towards her. I lifted her arms and helped her get up. I looked at Sarah and she had gone and Vecna had taken over Billy.
"It is time, girls. No more running from me anymore Alex. Time for you two to join me." Vecna stated as me and Max ran off. I grabbed Max's hand. Max started panting as we got somewhat far away from Vecna. Max took a quick brake.
"You cannot hide from me Maxine, Alexander." Vecna stated. Max got up as we started running again.
"Lucas baby please." I yelled.
"Dustin!" Max yelled.
"Lucas, please help me I need you." I yelled. Everything changed around us. It was like a red storm. We walked inside. We heard some crazy ass noise.

Steve's POV:
Dustin came running back with a bunch of music.
"What is this?" Lucas asked.
"What's their favourite songs?" Dustin asked.
"Alex's favourite song is Don't stop believing it always has been." I answered. I put don't stop believing for Alex praying something would work.

Alex's Pov.
"What are you doing in here, Max, Alex? Come back to me." Vecna stated. We saw Chrissy's dead body.
"Okay that's gonna give me more PTSD I didn't ask for." I muttered.
"How do you like them, girls? Would you like to join them?" Vecna asked as we ran off. Something stopped us from running away. It pulled us down. It pulled us back onto podiums. I tried to scream but it was chocking me. I heard don't stop believing and a hole at the back of it. Vecna was talking to Max as I tried to escape.
"You belong here as well Alex." Vecna stated standing in front of me.
"You're not really here." I spat at him.
"Oh but I am Alex. I am." Vecna answered putting his hand above my face trying to kill me. Memories of me and Lucas came into my head. I focused on them. Then memories of me and Max came up and me and El. I tried to focuses on them. I managed to escape Max joined me as we ran to our boys. Vecna tried to stop us trying to get to the boys. I heard Lucas try to focus my attention on him. We managed to get out and I fell into Lucas's arms as Max fell into Steve's. We started hyperventilating as I tried to get closer to Lucas to hide. Lucas said something to me but I couldn't hear what he was saying. As I was too scared.
