Lauren can't believe she's on this stupid flight on the way back to that stupid town. At least she'll get to see her Abuelo, maybe take him to the store and get him some new clothes or something.
Emily is bouncing up and down in her seat and Camila looks like she's about to hyperventilate. For someone usually so calm in any situation, when she gets on an airplane she freaks out. It's all internal of course. She forces smiles at Emily while shooting Lauren's panicked looks. When they start to take off, Emily amuses the people all around by squealing 'weeee'.

Lauren glance at Camila whose eyes are closed. Finally, Lauren reaches around Emily and takes Camila's hand, Camila's fingers thread through Lauren's and if she wasn't hurting Lauren's hand so bad with her tight grip this would make Lauren uncomfortable.

Finally, when they're in the air and Emily is leaning over Lauren, staring out the window at the disappearing city, Camila loosens her grip on Lauren's hand, but she doesn't let go.

About ten minutes into the flight, Emily is asleep with her head in Lauren's lap. Camila is reading one of her books, but she hasn't let go of Lauren's hand and Lauren can't bring herself to let go. The pages of the book are wavering as her hand trembles. Camila's been on the same page since she opened up the book seven minutes ago.

Lauren allows her to hold her hand for the remainder of the flight, mostly because their intertwined hands are now tucked under Emily's arm. She's a flailer in her sleep as Lauren has learned the hard way and she flung her arm over Lauren's hands a few seconds after she passed out. Lauren doesn't want to wake her up. Yeah, that's it.

"Where do you want to go?" Camila asks as she buckles Emily into the backseat of the rental car. "You can just drop us off at my mom's house and take the car if you don't want to stay."

"I was hoping that your mom wouldn't know that I'm even still alive," Lauren stated, turning on the car, "Much less in the same zip code as her."

Camila sighs and closes the back door. When she gets into the passenger's seat she looks over at Lauren, "Can I call you tonight? We'll take you to Breadstix."

"When you say we you mean...?" Lauren pulls out of the parking lot, trying to maintain eye contact with the road.

"Me and Emily," Camila states, "Maybe Sofia too."

Lauren rolled her eyes, "Like your mom would let your little sister hang around me."

Camila reaches across the seats and puts her hand on Lauren's hand. Lauren grips the steering wheel a little tighter as they get onto the highway. "My mom is wrong and Sofia can go wherever she wants, okay? She's been asking about you."

"Really?" Lauren ask. Sofia was like a little sister to Lauren when they were in high school. Seeing her again would be sort of nice.

Camila nods, "Totally." She retracts her hand and leans back in her seat. After a quick glance at Emily who is looking out the window, she looks straight ahead, "Emily could stay with Sofia for a few hours and we could go on a date."

Lauren smirks and shakes her head, "No." Lauren like the way that she's been slipping these date invitations into conversations. She's gotten really good at it, but she's not going to catch Lauren. The second the word 'date' comes out of Camila's mouth, the word 'no' comes out of Lauren's.

"You're going to say yes," Camila looks over at Lauren with a coy grin, "You might as well say yes now." She's in a great mood and it's hard for it not to catch onto Lauren.

"I think New York has made you cocky," Lauren stops at a red light and looks over at Camila.

Camila grins and leans forward, getting ridiculously close to Lauren. Lauren can feel Camila's breath on her lips and goosebumps run the length of her body. Camila's lips are dangerously close. The only thing Lauren can hear is the pounding of blood rushing through her ears. Lauren's brain doesn't even have the functionality to tell her that this is a horrible compromising position.
