72: reality

The train ride from Italy to Milan was faster than I expected. However, I did have time to plan SJ's birthday party. The conversation we had back at the hotel gave me an idea. While she was sleeping with her music plugged in, I talked about it with Tim and Claudia.

"I think it's a great idea. We haven't really thrown any parties at the house yet, so it will be perfect." Tim agreed.

SJ moved in her seat, finally resting her head on my shoulder. "Will you invite her family?"

"I contacted her aunt this morning; she said she couldn't make it, but that she would still get her something special and meaningful."

I don't know how Claudia found this resort, but I'm so glad she did. It's beautiful! We had a small cottage to ourselves. We had our room on the second floor, while the others had their room on the first floor. The living room looked so nice! There's a white fluffy rug on the floor in front of a fireplace completing the look.

We dropped our bags and headed straight outside to hit the slopes. Sarah and Tim couldn't shut up about going on the mountain. I used to snowboard, but it's been a while.

"Oh my God! The weather is so nice!"

"Je capote tellement que c'est beau!" Claudia said in french. Lucky, for us, we all spoke french including SJ.

Sarah tried snowboarding, but she changed for skis. She was a natural. Claudia and I hung back in the family trail, while Sarah and Tim were off to the hardest slope.
I was worried! However, I smiled when I saw them make their way to us. For the rest of day, they stayed with us and showed us some tricks.
After a while, we decided to go slide.

"This is going to go fast! So, hold on!" The instructor told us. Sarah was in between my legs with her back on my chest. Her hands grabbed my legs as I wrapped my arms around her waist. 

"Go!"

And, off we went.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: I messed up the timeline lol. I know there's not a lot of snow in Switzerland around the time of April... but just roll with it 😂
