Chapter 13: Explosion
Amara smiled after seeing another glass given to her. She raised it at her eye level and intently looked at its color. It was something pretty to the eyes, which makes someone eager to taste it. Raising the glass, she was about to take a sip when the glass she was holding in her hand broke.
Feeling anger inside her, her eyes changed their color to black before looking at the culprit. Only then did she see her soulmates fighting with a group of assassins dressed in black. Gritting her teeth, she took her gun out inside her gown and pointed it at the assassins.
"Rule no. 3." She shouted as she walked near Bruce who was throwing assassins out of the broken window. The avengers heard her voice and listened to what she was about to say while fighting another crowd of enemies.
"Don't piss me off, especially when I'm in a good mood." She shouted and fired. The avengers present were amazed when she fired her first bullet and hit all three of them in the head.
Amara stayed on the bar counter and shot the assassins from afar while Tony and Bruce were in front, protecting her from harm. She saw Steve, Pietro, and Peter fighting enemies together from a distance while Vision, Wanda, and Pietro fought near the broken window.
"Steve, can you let those assassins crowd in one place." She saw him nodding at her and watched as he began giving a series of commands towards the others. He did not ask what she wants to do and it makes her feel warm inside.
"Wanda and Pietro. Make sure to keep the enemies in one place." Steve said as he faced the twins beside him.
"At your service." Pietro said and carried her sister in his arms before leaving in a flash.
"Peter, stick them in place with your web shooter." Steve looked around and found Peter moving through the room using his web and he passed by his side. Peter gave him a thumbs up before doing what Steve says.
"On it!"
Steve turned to his face to the right where she is and looked at the remaining people beside him. "Vision, Tony, you stay here with me and Amara." Although Amara felt there is no need for protection, she let them stay beside her as she thought of her plan.
"That's fine with me." Tony said with a shrug, though who is he kidding. The others know he is a guy who rushes to a fight and him agreeing to stay here can only be of one reason, their soulmate, who is beside them.
Focusing on the fight, the others look around the room vigilantly as they circle around Amara.
"And Hulk?" Steve called while looking at the giant green avenger beside them, who looked angrier than normal. "Smash and throw." Hulk nodded at him before jumping to the enemies.
Amara focuses on the fight not far from her before nodding in satisfaction as the others successfully crowd the assassins in one place and think that it is enough. She patted Steve, who just finished conversing with someone in his earpiece.
"Make them come back now." Steve nodded at her and called the others through the earpiece. Sure enough, the others came back and looked at her, anticipating her plan.
"What do we do next?" Peter said. Amara just gave him a smile before leaving the circle and stopping beside Steve and Tony, who are looking at what she is about to do.
"Do you mind?" Amara said as she took a metal ball from somewhere in her body and then asked Tony, who was beside her. Tony, although confused at what she is pertaining to, shook his head.
"I don't mind." He replied and Amara smiled, happy for his reply. She doesn't want to be reprimanded later on for destroying a part of the building without permission now, does she?
"Good." She said with a smirk on her face. The others who saw her face had a bad premonition and it was proven as such when they saw her action next.
Amara got his permission, though unclear of her intention, and clicked the ball before throwing it at where the assassins were crowded and shooting it with her hand gun.
A loud explosion happened seconds later and the others were caught off guard. Steve and Tony instinctively pulled Amara to hide on the kitchen counter to avoid debris from hitting her. Bruce instinctively faced their group with his back against the explosion, successfully protecting the others, while the remaining people were shocked as they looked at the now mischievous smiling soulmate.
Steve loosened his hold around Amara's waist as he took her in his embrace, protecting her. He stood up to look at the situation after the explosion and saw the whole place was a mess.
The others saw him stand up properly and knew that it wouldn't be dangerous to let their soulmate see the situation and Wanda helped Amara stand up properly.
"Next time, young miss. You have to say something first before doing that. What if you get hurt?" Steve sternly said with a frown on his handsome face. He knew most of them panicked at her sudden reckless action of throwing a bomb.
"Don't worry. I'm not as fragile as I look." Amara gave him a soothing look and observed the others' situations. Seeing that they are fine, she looked back at the bombed scene and smile at her work.
She doesn't remember, when was the last time she did something like this?
Smirking to herself, she decided to check on the bodies of the assassins to get a better idea on who sent them. Though she had a name in her mind, it is better to be sure whose fault this attack was blamed on as she has more than one enemy.
Moving away from the avengers, she was about to leave her position behind the bar counter when a hand pulled her back as another explosion sound could be heard, but this time, it was from above them.
