The first decision I made probably wasn't the best. I didn't quite know how else to ask, so I didn't. That was my first decision. My second decision however, was probably worse. I decided to head to the dorms. I know, sounds simple, right? Wrong! I walked into the dorm rooms to see Pansy and Amelia, sitting together and whispering. I didn't think much of it until I heard my name. I cleared my throat to make my presence known. They looked up and laughed at me, like I was part of an inside joke that I didn't know about, and honestly, I probably was.
"I can't believe you dreamed about that! And I can't believe I actually felt sorry for you!" Amelia squeaked. I half scoffed, half laughed in disbelief. "I'm...I'm sorry, what? I...I'm not sure I follow..." My voice cracked on the last word. She scoffed and pushed me toward the door, and I heard it squeal open behind me. "A-amelia, you don't wanna do this, come on..." I said as she advanced, making me move closer to the open doorway, leading to the stairs. She laughed sourly. "I think I do." She smiled poisonously. Her arms extended in slow motion, I knew what was about to happen. Everything was in slow motion. Her hands hit my chest, roughly, and I felt her muscles extend to the furthest length possible. I felt my head hit the first step, but the next thing I saw was everyone surrounding me in the hospital wing.
I made sure that I slept in the hospital wing for as long as possible. I'll admit it, I'm a pussy, I hate confronting people, I hate arguing, and I try to comply as much as possible. Tonight was the night I decided to ask for someone to stay with me. When Madam Pomfrey came in to ask, I was so tired, the only thing I said was "someone, anyone" and she brought in the one person I didn't want, yet was happy when he arrived. Malfoy. Of course it was him.
"Hey...I saw your nasty fall." He lightly touched the bandage on my head. I didn't even know there was a bandage on my head. He smiled slightly. "How are you feeling? If it makes you feel any better, they've written Amelia's parents and she'll be on the train by morning." I didn't know how to react to what he said. I just kind of nodded, but my hand flew to my head when I felt the pain sear behind my eye. "I'm definitely alive!" I said with a sorrowful smile at the end. He returned the same smile. "She said her father would kill her if she was sent home, but Professor Snape didn't bat an eyelash at her." He stated. He sat down beside me on the bed, and he stared outside the window, toward the setting or rising sun, I couldn't tell. "I brought you some mushrooms...I know they're your favorite." He said, handing me a hand-sized basket of mushrooms. "Wow!" I exclaimed. "How did you know this? I've never told anyone!" His face flushed red. "Well, you talk in your sleep a little...I couldn't help but overhear you." He smiled like a kid who got caught taking a cookie from the jar. I laugh slightly. "Thanks Malfoy...and I really meant what I said, maybe you aren't such a monster..." I smiled while shoveling a handful of mushrooms into my mouth. "Well, I should probably head back to the dorms, I'll see you later, Octavia." He got off the bed and headed toward the door, leaving me alone in the hospital wing.
By the time I woke up, I think it was somewhere around 3:30-4:00 p.m. based off of what I learned in astronomy class. Madam Pomfrey had left a note on my bedside table that dismissed me when I woke, and that's when I realised that I was alone in the wing, even without Madam Pomfrey. I got up and began to dress myself in my school robes, writing back on the piece of paper she left on my side table, thanking her for taking care of me, since not many people thank her. I walked into the Great Hall and I saw that it was a passing period. I walked up to Professor McGonagall and asked her what time it was. "Oh, hello dear! It's 4:30 p.m., dinner will be served shortly! I've also left your basket of mushrooms in the kitchen since I didn't trust them to be left alone in your dorm, based off of what recently happened to you, my dear! Do you want them?" She asked. I nodded slightly, my head still in slight pain. "Yes please, Professor, that would be lovely." She directed me towards the kitchen and let me walk in by myself.
The house elves bombarded me with treats on platters, bubbly drinks that could probably get me in trouble, and full course meals. I think they got slightly offended when I insisted that I just wanted my mushrooms. I grabbed my basket and ran. When I finally got to the dorms, I was in there alone, again. I sat cross-legged on my bed, with the basket in between my legs. I grabbed a few mushrooms and smelled them, since I didn't quite trust it. Sure enough, it had a scent of a drug I'd smelled before. I couldn't quite remember the name of it, yet I knew it wasn't good. "Thanks Professor McGonagall, but it wasn't very helpful..." I sighed agitatedly, emptying out my basket of mushrooms in the trash. I couldn't quite bring myself to throw away the basket though. It was too cute...it was a dark cherry wood woven with intricate little designs, white lace, frosted with little white gemstones with dark green ribbons woven into the wood, creating a color contrasting affect, which was beautiful to the eye. In the middle of the front of the basket, there were dark green bows sewn onto the lace, decorating the outside of the Slytherin emblem, and it was a basket that only Malfoy would be able to find. It was purely him...purely Malfoy.
