The rest of the ride later and some friendly chatter, we've finally reached Beacon Academy and it looks just as illustrious as I was expecting it to be.
"We're here! We're here!" An excited, albeit nervous girl in red exclaims as we dock.
I grimace as the puking boy from earlier runs past me and toward the nearest trash can.
"Oh look, someone's more excited to leave the ship than Red."
"Yeah, gross, let's get out of here already."
"W-Wait up!" Ruby runs over to her sister, leaving me behind.
Not bothering to run, I start walking towards the pair who've gotten ahead of me and pass by regurgitation boy, holding my breath as I do so.
I catch up to the siblings as Ruby flutters in the air with a starry gaze similar to the one she had with the huntress.
"Look! That kid over there has a great sword. Oh! And that person over there has a crazy looking halberd!" She exclaims, almost floating towards them.
Luckily, Yang grabs her by the back of her hoodie before she completely flies away.
"Ow, ow, you're grabbing too hard!"
"Down girl," Ruby whines quietly as she accepts her capture as Yang turns to me for help, "Besides, they're just weapons. Right Neir?"
"They're not just weapons!" Ruby interjects, defending the inanimate objects before I can, "They're like an extension of ourselv-"
Yang covers her mouth before she can talk anymore, her eyes pleading for some help.
"Sorry Sunshine, but I agree with Red here, and not just because I'm enjoying the sight of you suffering," I chuckle.
Defeated, Yang sighs deeply as she rolls her eyes. Whereas Ruby looks to me as though she found a long lost friend.
With only a slightly smug smile, I decide to explain myself a bit more.
"Quite honestly, I've always been fascinated by your weaponry. It's...unique to say the least and I can only imagine how much time was taken to even think up such a versatile design. Creating a gun with melee combat in mind is one thing, but doing the reverse is something I rarely ever come across. Personally, I've always preferred ranged combat, but here that's rendered almost useless. So to see how you've adapted to it through your creations is like witnessing history itself. The appreciation of such weaponry is well deserved
At least, for the level of this world, I suppose.
Ah, I may have said a bt too much.
Luckily, the two sisters stare at me blankly as though I've just spoken a language entirely foreign to them. While relived, I am slightly disappointed that my words have gone over their head. I hardly ever give out compliments you know.
"Weapons cool, me likey." I sigh.
Completely in sync, their mouths open into an 'O' in understanding.
Ruby snaps her head toward Yang with an excited smile and points both her hands toward me.
"See?! I'm not the only one!"
It's Yang's turn to sigh disappointedly as she glances at the ground.
"Great, another weapons freak. And here I was beginning to like you."
"Give it some time, I'm sure you'll start doing so again soon," I state with confidence.
Yang shakes her head and lets out a chuckle.
