Neir POV
uNexpected allies"You don't talk much, do you." I say to the short girl who has the sharp end of her umbrella at my neck.
She merely smiles at me not bothering to care about my butterfly knife at her throat.
We stare at each other warily, neither one of us making a move in the rain soaked streets. Her feet shift an inch, and mine does the same, ready for whatever she does next.
With a swift twirl, she removes her umbrella from my neck and gently pushes the blade from her neck with a single finger. She meets no resistance as I let her move it away.
"Can't you greet me like a normal person?" I sigh, twirling my knife shut before pocketing it.
With a carefree smile she skips over to the entrance of a crappy three story building, leaning forward and inspecting the door carefully. She taps a finger to her lip as to accentuate her thinking, then continues to scan the entire building by moving her entire head.
"Is there a reason you make your movements so...animated?" I find myself asking.
She flashes me a dazzling smile and kicks her umbrella into the air, using the door as a launch pad to catch it then dive through a window on the second floor.
"That's not really an answer." I mutter.
After the initial crash I hear yells, crashing, and other general noises of a battle. I sigh again and shake my head feeling irritated. I was hoping to do this more stealthily but now that's out of the question.
Now I have to do this the hard way.
Gunshots start ringing out and with one more deep breath, I charge through the front door. Time slows down as my brain kicks into overdrive, giving me a chance to analyze the room.
Three men, surprised by my sudden ambush. One with a gun and the other two each holding a blunt weapon. I blink and time resumes.
"What the hell-?!"
The first and closest man swings his head around along with his pistol to aim at me.
I catch his hand and arm, yanking it upwards to hear a loud crack and deftly snatching the gun out of his hand.
Kicking him away, I fire three shots in quick succession and end each of their lives before they can raise a their weapons.
I quickly check the magazine and count the bullets, only for my eyes snap to an adjacent door opening up. I slam the clip back in the magazine and fire once at the man running out the room.
When I blink, I find I shot at nothing and see the bullet hole in the door. These damn visions...
With a grumble, I check to make sure the other rooms are clear with a gun and butterfly knife in hand.
I only find two other men on this floor, and they're easily taken care of with a bullet to the eye and a knife to the throat. With the area clear, I make my way up the stairs.
When I reach the top I press my body to the wall and avoid the man that flies down the stairs. I turn to where he was thrown from and find the girl waiting for me with a smug smile and her umbrella tip resting on the floor.
Without hesitation, I fire off a shot in her direction. In the split second when I pulled the trigger, I saw I wiped her smile off her face filling me with a great amount of satisfaction.
Her eyes narrow at me and I sense a growing blood thirsty anger from the mute, but the body of the man about to ambush her falling to the ground with two new holes in his head is enough to clear up any misunderstandings.
