Jennie presses the button for the elevator. The head office for her mother's company is on one of the higher floors of the large skyscraper.
After the afternoon she had just had, she just wanted to be around the person that loves her the most. Feeling that support from her mother is what she needed.
Part of her wondered if she should confide in her but she immediately shut that thought down. While she and her mom are incredibly close now, it wasn't always that way. There was a time when Jennie went months without hearing a single word from her.
While she now better understands her mother's pain at that time, the hurt she felt then has not completely disappeared. The isolation she faced at a young age has affected her personality largely. She is incredibly shy and has trouble opening up to people, preferring to keep her personal life and any issues she might be facing in it to herself. Not even her mom is an exception to that.
She gets off of the 52nd floor and walks up to her mother's receptionist. "Hello" Jennie greets her with a bow. "Is my mom free?"
"Hello, Jennie-ssi. I'm sorry, she was just called into an emergency meeting. They are in the boardroom now. She even had to stop the current meeting she was having midway."
"Oh, is everything okay?" She asks concerned
If the receptionist is concerned, it does not show on her face. She holds herself rather professionally. She shows no hints of being starstruck by Jennie, she has alway treated very politely and professionally if not a little coldly.
"I'm not really sure. Do you want to wait? She might be awhile" she raises her eyes to meet Jennies for just a moment before dropping them to her computer as she asks this, her fingers typing at lightning speed.
Her mothers receptionist Kim Min Jae was very beautiful in an understated sort of way. Jennie knows that they are around her same age with the other girl being only three years older than her but even at her young age she has achieved a lot in the industry becoming the receptionist to the Ceo. It was not an easy task knowing her mother's work standards.
"Yes, I'll wait. I thought we could have dinner together."
"Are you sure? She still plans to continue her previous meeting as well." She says not looking up this time.
"It's fine, I'm not really in a hurry"
"Okay then, you can take a seat in the waiting room if you'd like" She indicates to one of the closed doors off to the side of the room.
"No that's okay, I think I'm just going to get some air. I'll be back a little later."
"Okay I'll let her know you're here when she gets out of the boardroom."
Jennie gets in the elevator again and exhales. She hits the button for the rooftop. Perhaps watching the sunset would put her in better spirits.
The elevator heading to the top is absolutely empty. The ride up doesn't take long, after a few seconds she steps onto a gorgeous terrace.
The landscape is covered in white snow, giving the terrace an ethereal feel to it. The snowing has stopped for the moment but the chill is still biting in the air.
Jennie pulls her coat closer to her body trying to retain some of the heat as she walks further onto the rooftop.
Her breath catches when she spots something. A dark figure at the far end, leaning on the railing.
He’s wearing a white shirt and gray slacks. His sleeves are rolled up to his elbows and his gray coat hanging on the edge of the glass partition. It seems crazy to Jennie who had started shivering the moment she stepped out into the cold air.
