Venti's POV

Monday

I spent the whole day by Xiao's side yesterday. His parents inevitably left, but they drove me home when visiting hours ended.

Xiao never woke up yesterday... I figured he wouldn't but... a part of me hoped he would...

I didn't want to go to school, but my aunt thought it was best if I did. Maybe it'll help take my mind off of Xiao. At least for a moment.

It won't though.

I got dressed for school slowly, not having the energy to do anything. I kept Xiao's hoodie on, and will probably continue to wear it until he wakes up.

My aunt drove me to school, and I made my way to History class, keeping my head down.

I took my usual seat, ignoring the empty one next to me.

"Hey!" Bennett said happily, sitting down on the other side of me, the one Xiao doesn't sit in.

I looked at him and forced a smile. "Hey..."

He yawned, rubbing the back of his neck. "Saturday was crazy, huh?"

I tensed. "Yes, it was."

He chuckled, opening his mouth to say something but stopped when Lumine slammed her hands on my desk.

"YOU!"

My eyes widened and I jumped from the scare. "... H-Hi, Lumine..."

She glared at me. "I cannot believe you guys! And you didn't even stay to clean up!"

I laughed breathily, blushing awkwardly. "W-We apologize for that... but at least it wasn't in your bed..."

She stared at me with a blank expression, and Bennett started chuckling.

"Don't ever do that in my room ever again!" She threatened, going to her desk to sit.

I glanced at Bennett who was still laughing. "Yeah whatever... ha ha..."

I skipped gym, deciding to sit in the bathroom the whole period.

After that was over, it was now our lunch break, so I made my way to my locker to grab my backpack.

"Where are you going?" A male voice asked beside me.

I looked over and saw Scara.

Shit.

"... I'm just going out for lunch this time..." I lied, throwing my bag over my shoulder and pushed my locker shut.

"Can I join?" He asked.

I tensed, starting to walk down the hall. "... you don't like this place... it wouldn't be enjoyable for you."

He walked beside me. "I don't mind that."

I clenched my fists. "I don't think it's best if you come."

"Why not?"

"... I just don't."

He grabbed my arm and pulled me to a stop. "What's going on? Did I do something to upset you?"

I looked away, tears reaching my eyes. "It's not you."

His grip loosened. "You know you can talk to me, right?"

I swallowed hard, slowly meeting his eyes. "... Xiao, he... he got into a car accident after the party... he's... he's in a coma... I was going to go see him for lunch..."
