Some robbers were hauling hostages to the side of the bank, holding guns at them while they cried for help. One hostage tried to fight back to help his wife, but the bad guys held him back and put a gun to his head, tightening their finger around the trigger.

That was enough.

I made the glass explode into fine powder so it wouldn't hurt anyone, making a smokescreen while I flew down, suiting up using my powers as I descended quickly towards the floor. Suddenly, all guns turned to me as the smokescreen faded, and everyone looked confused as to who I was.

"Gentlemen." I smirked, looking around, "I suggest you put the guns down. Before this gets ugly."

"Over my dead body." The one who seemed to be the leader replied, pulling the trigger. However, I raised my hand and all of the bullets that were fired in the leader's wake halted in mid air, failing to strain against a purple force. I leaned sideways, smiling.

"So be it." I flicked my hands and the bullets shot back into the guns, deactivating them while the force of the bullet knocked the guns into their faces. One thug came at me, but I grabbed his incoming fist, struck him three times in the stomach and used my strength to flip him over my head and across the room, creating a robber-sized dent in the wall. I did a backflip to avoid another incoming bullet and sent a volley of energy blasts across the room, hitting the rest of the robbers and leaving them on the floor, writhing. I took the chance and tapped into the astral realm, accessing all of their souls and shutting them down, making every bad guy but the leader slump, unconscious.

"What are you?" The leader asked, dropping his gun.

"I think the question is... who... am I?" I sent him flying with a blast and used my powers to make the rail shoot towards his hands, binding themselves around his wrists and hold him in midair, unable to move. I flew towards him, ripping off his mask and looking at him with lethal violet eyes.

"I'm Nexus." And with that, I pressed my finger to his forehead and shut his brain down too, and now satisfied with my job, floated down towards the hostages.

"Is everyone safe?" I asked, looking around cautiously.

"Thank you, ma'am." An elderly man smiled shakily. A child tugged on my sash, grabbing my attention. He was a small boy with wavy brown hair that reminded me of my old hair colour.

"What's your name?" He asked, amazed. I crouched down to his level with a benign smile, purple eyes sparkling.

"You can call me Nexus." I grinned, feeling warmed by this boy.

"Nexus. You're my favourite superhero now!" He giggled, while I saw that one of his teeth were missing.

"That's my man. Give me some." I raised my fist and he happily met the gesture, going back to his mother excitedly.

I was watching the news at home with Caitlin, while Cisco and Barry decided they'd have some bro time in the kitchen while 'cooking'.

'The bank robbery was thwarted by Central City's own new superhero, who, by eyewitness reports, goes by the name Nexus. Citizens far and wide who were affected by this attack express their gratitude to Nexus, even though her identity is unknown.' I felt Caitlin's eyes on me, so I turned to her with raised eyebrows.

"You're Nexus." She figured out, and I nodded.

"Figured I'd put my powers into good use. Others can't feel the pain that I did. So I'm going to be the one who saves them from it."

"CAITLIN! RYKER! DINNER!" We heard, but sounded a bit panicked, so we sighed.

"Never leave those two alone in a kitchen." Caitlin grunted, getting up from the sofa, and I mimicked her actions. I didn't feel scared. Instead a rush of adrenaline.

I'm a superhero.
