We pulled our mats a little closer together and I put my head on his chest. "Sorry about earlier, you know when I-" I cut him off. "Quit saying sorry and being stupid" I said sarcastically. I kissed him, I dont even know why, I just, did. It was better this time, because he held me. The rest of that night was a mess. We just laid there together talking, laughing, and crying until morning. There was a small window in our cell that let some sunlight in, when I saw something. My heart dropped to my stomach. The light was shining in through the window on to Toby. His arm. His number. 237XIII. The X, how could there be an X. "Toby!" I cried. He knew. Thats why he kissed me in the hallway, because that could have been the last time we saw each other. "I know Max, thats why were getting out." I was crying. "Hey, listen. They saw Hannah's yesterday because they checked the girls first. They'll do the boys tomorrow. If we can keep it hidden today we can look for a way out." He held my hands. "And what if we don't?" I cried. He looked at me and sighed "I-I don't know." We had to keep it hidden, but that would be hard because he doesn't have a shirt. An alarm started blaring. "We need to go." He pulled me up and to the door. "What about the numbers." As soon as i said that a guard burst in. "I want a two lines now!" We stood next to each other, I panicked and put my hands around his arm, covering the numbers.
