Chapter 2: the Sorting Ceremony:

The song ended and now it was time for the sorting.

I knew that I would be called soon, after all my name starts with a B. Surname, that is.

"Quinn Andrew!" called Professor McGonagall.

A girl with wavy blonde hair and bright blue eyes nervously walked up towards the stool. She picked up the hat and jammed it on her head, as though it would make her invisible.

After some time the hats brim opened and it shouted.

"HUFFLEPU- wait, no no!" A chatter broke lose. I don't think the hat was ever wrong, or ever changed its mind.

"GRYFFINDOR, YES GRYFFINDOR!!"

Quinn took off the hat and placed it on the stool, startled and looking fairly happy to take it off. She walked over to the table that was cheering loudest.

I looked around the hall, and noticed that the ceiling was designed to mirror the sky. That's cool, fairly cool.

I glance at the staff and saw the Hagrid person sitting there, chatting with a stout plump women. A short man with glasses was on the women's left, merrily talking to a man with a big belly and a walrus-like face. Albus Dumbledore was sitting on the tallest chair in the middle of the staff table, with his fingertips together, eyes raking the hall. In all his glory and wisdom.

"Sirius Black!"

Oh god, no.

I walked up to the stool and uncertainly placed the hat over my head.

"Ah, another Black, I see," a voice said. I guessed It was the hat.

"You guessed correctly," said the hat. I was fairly startled.

"Now, where to put you."

I held my breath.

"You have plenty of courage, a good mind. Hmm, well Slytherin won't do. Then it better be GRYFFINDOR!!!"

It shouted the last to words to the whole hall and the table at the far left exploded.

I took off the hat and jammed it onto the stool, and eagerly almost-ran towards my table, grinning like a madman.

I sat down and received numerous pats on the back.

Glancing at the Skytherin table I saw my oh-so beloved cousin Bellatrix, with her prefect badge gleaming on her chest sitting next to her sister, Narcissa, who had a Head Girl badge. They glared at me when they noticed me, and I gladly returned the favour.

After a while the girl from the train got called. As soon as she put the hat on her head it bellowed "GRYFFINDOR!"

She happily stood up and placed the hat on the stool, then bounced to our table.

I scooted sideways to make her room. She looked at me then scowled and turned her back in me.

I shrugged and looked around the hall. Again.

"Remus Lupin!"

I turned back to the stool.

Remus was sorted "GRYFFINDOR!"

Everyone cheered, mostly me though.

"Congratulations!" I clapped Remus on the back. He grinned.

"You too," he looks around the hall.

"Cool, eh?" I say.

"Beyond!"

"You're Lily, right?" Remus asked the red head.

"Yes. Why do you care?" She said without looking at us.

"We're sorry abou-" Remus glanced at me.

"I'm sorry about what happened on the train," he said.

"Fine," Lily said coldly.

I shrugged at Remus.

"Peter Pettigrew!"

Peter stumbled over to the hat.

He took forever, but the hat decided on "GRYFFINDOR!" In the end.

He looked like he was about to throw up.

After a while James joined us.

"Hello!" Called Dumbledore. "Welcome to another year at Hogwarts!

"Welcome to our new students! And welcome back out older students!

"I think I shall remind you that going into the Forbidden Forest is prohibited to all students! Rest will be after we all fill our belly's with food! Enjoy!"

Food appeared on the golden plates, my eyes grew wide.

And I dug in. Piling anything and everything onto my plate.

I started to eat.
