He turns towards me and his face is illuminated.
"Princess, are you aware of what this box contains?" He smiles again. I can't help but think that he looks like he was electrocuted, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he were and while we're being honest, he probably would've enjoyed it.
"My name is Willow. You should know that, shouldn't you? I believe Mom said that you picked it out," I smirk, "And by the way, I am very aware of what that box contains. I wouldn't be here if I didn't know."
He crosses the room and puts his face up close to mine. In fact, he is so close that his teeth are noticeably yellow in the darkness. His green eyes glow as they stare into mine. I am ashamed that I inherited them from him. I would've much rather have received my mother's murky gray eyes.
I decide that he won't give up the package so easily. Although he has not made an attempt to hand it over, he has not tried to prevent me from taking it.
So I grab it.
I grab the cardboard box containing the wisp and I bolt.
At least I try.
My father tackles me almost as soon as I stand up.
"Think you can get away with that?"
He may be bony and starving, but he's still as strong as ever.
As young children, my brothers and I would wrestle a lot, and my dad joined in. My sister was never a part of it, and I never quite knew why. However, that gives me an advantage over my father in this moment. Despite his strength, I know exactly how to get him to release my wrists.
And so my foot glues itself to the concrete and my knee hits him in his chest.
The pain he receives causes him to let go of my wrists, now red and irritated, and allows me to grab the box and run.
